    Vice Chancellor

    Job Summary

    The Vice-Chancellor will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the University, providing strategic leadership to achieve the institution’s vision of academic and operational excellence. The role involves leading the university to financial self-sustainability, building strong local and international partnerships, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Build and manage academic and non-academic partnerships with high-ranking international institutions within the first year of appointment.
    • Represent the university in diverse external constituencies, including civic leaders, donors, and alumni.
    • Spearhead policy formulation, strategic planning, and initiatives to achieve academic and professional excellence.
    • Provide leadership in academic standards, programme review, curriculum development, and long-range planning.
    • Serve as a member of the Governing Council, presenting recommendations and ensuring efficient governance.
    • Promote harmony and collaboration among staff, students, and the university’s stakeholders.
    • Develop budgetary strategies, oversee resource allocation, and ensure financial accountability across departments.

    Requirements

    • A distinguished academic scholar with a rank of Professor in social sciences or related fields and at least eight (8) years of experience at that level.
    • Minimum of ten (10) years of leadership experience within an academic environment.
    • Proven ability to attract funding and establish partnerships with local and international organisations.
    • Visionary and highly committed to the accelerated development of institutions
    • Exceptional strategic management and team building abilities.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to maintain harmony and mobilise resources effectively.
