    Urban Planner

    About Our Client:

    Our client is a prominent real estate development company based in Lagos, Nigeria, specializing in luxury residential and commercial properties. With a focus on innovative design and sustainable building practices, the company has been enhancing cityscapes across Nigeria since 2007.

    Role Summary:

    As an Urban Planner at our client's company, you will be responsible for designing and implementing urban development projects, including residential and commercial developments, transportation systems, and infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in shaping the future of urban environments and communities through innovative planning and design solutions.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement urban planning strategies and policies to guide the sustainable development of urban areas, including land use planning, zoning regulations, and transportation planning, and ensure compliance with local planning regulations and building codes.
    • Conduct research, data analysis, and site assessments to evaluate existing land use patterns, infrastructure systems, and environmental conditions, and identify opportunities and challenges for urban development projects.
    • Prepare master plans, development plans, and urban design guidelines for residential and commercial developments, mixed-use developments, and public spaces, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate planning and design principles into project designs.
    • Coordinate with government agencies, community groups, and stakeholders to gather input and feedback on proposed urban development projects, and facilitate public participation and engagement processes to ensure that community needs and concerns are addressed.
    • Prepare and present planning reports, presentations, and proposals to government officials, planning commissions, and community groups, and provide technical assistance and expertise on urban planning issues and projects.
    • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of urban development projects, and track project progress, milestones, and outcomes, and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization to achieve project goals and objectives.
    • Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and technologies in urban planning, sustainable development, and smart cities initiatives, and incorporate innovative and sustainable design solutions into urban development projects.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or related field; Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., AICP) is a plus.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in urban planning, with a focus on residential and/or commercial development projects, preferably in the luxury real estate sector.
    • Strong understanding of urban planning principles, practices, and processes, including land use planning, zoning regulations, transportation planning, and environmental planning.
    • Proficiency in GIS software, CAD software, and other urban planning tools and technologies, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, government agencies, community groups, and stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct research, analyze data, and develop innovative solutions to complex urban planning challenges.
    • Knowledge of local planning regulations, building codes, and environmental laws and regulations in Nigeria.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
