    Trainee Revenue Officer – AIRS 014

    Requirements

    • Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Accountancy, Taxation or Economics, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Public Administration and other relevant field of study.
    • 0-2 Years experience.
    • Strong numerical and analytical skills are essential for accurate tax assessment and data interpretation.
    • Competency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite) and the ability to quickly learn the AIRS's internal software and relevant work tools.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with taxpayers and colleagues.
    • High moral and ethical standards, as the role involves handling sensitive financial information and public funds.
    • A basic understanding of Nigerian tax laws and public administration principles is expected.

    Responsibilities:

    • Diligently acquire and demonstrate mastery of tax laws, assessment principles, and collection procedures through active participation in structured training and development program.

    Internal

    • Contribute directly to the operational workflow by executing foundational processes such as taxpayer data validation, initial return vetting, and computation of basic assessments under strict supervision.
    • Actively observe and analyse the methods of senior officers in handling taxpayer interactions, compliance issues, and dispute resolution to internalize best practices and professional standards.
    • Serve as a first point of contact to support positive taxpayer relations, providing procedural guidance and facilitating access to senior experts for complex inquiries.
    • Uphold the accuracy and integrity of the state's taxpayer database by performing meticulous data entry, system updates, and maintaining organized documentation in line with confidentiality protocols.
    • Participate in supervised revenue assurance exercises, including the preliminary reconciliation of payments and validation of transaction records, to develop an understanding of financial controls.
    • Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the SIRS's ethical code, acting as a model of integrity, service, and professionalism in all assigned duties and interactions.
    • Take ownership of personal growth by proactively seeking feedback, applying learned concepts to practical scenarios, and consistently striving to meet and exceed the performance benchmarks of the trainee program.
