About Acting Now
Solidaridad is implementing the Acting Now program which aims to boost the production and availability of locally grown nutritious foods on local markets and boost fish production through aquaculture development. Acting Now is a three-year program (2023-2025) designed to respond to the current food crisis in six African countries (Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Mozambique). Its main objective is to boost the production and availability of locally grown nutritious foods on local markets, working with 163,000 farmers in 6 African countries (Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Mozambique) to address the immediate concern of food stress. The program’s medium to long-term objective is to contribute to food system resilience by supporting producers to build more resilient farms and food systems that are prepared for future climate change impact or economic vulnerabilities.
The Acting Now Programme also seeks to scale the uptake of sustainable and inclusive production and trade practices, by supporting producers to acquire the needed knowledge/entrepreneurial skills, by creating fair and inclusive access to inputs, finance, technology, and markets for men, women, and (rural) youth.
