Our client is currently recruiting structural engineers with extensive experience in Dam, Hydropower, and Water Hydraulics domains.
The particular need for this role is for a person who has an aptitude to assist in the strategic growth of the water business (i.e. business development and work winning); has technical skills in the structural designs of Dams, Hydraulic structures; Commercial acumen; coordination of Civil, Mechanical and Electrical disciplines in the Dam and Hydropower industries; extensive knowledge in project management; as well as reporting and stakeholder liaison on the full suite of project matters.
Responsibilities
Perform highly complex structural engineering designs, calculations, and analysis of dams as and hydropower plants and pump stations [specifically water retaining structures, intake structures, pipelines, and reservoirs, with key contributions on 3D models, technical drawings and details].
Assist in preparing and coordinating tenders/bids and contribute to winning work initiatives.
Contractual and commercial acumen and assist in the management of construction contracts.
Ensure timely delivery of projects, within scope and budget.
Establish a clear understanding of the project goals and stakeholder expectations, specifically, managing client expectations and ensuring that delivery meets expectations.
Lead and coordinate small, medium, and integrated projects including management of delivery teams, and reporting on budgets and schedules, and maintaining team morale.
Produce other key deliverables on projects, such as technical reports, specifications, and bills of quantities.
Establish initial project schedules and regularly maintain project schedules.
Act as senior project-level point of contact for clients.
Motivate the project team towards the determined objectives, by generating enthusiasm for the project, and by maintaining a continued personal interest in achieving set targets.
Minimum Requirements
MSc (Preferred) / MEng (Preferred) / BEng in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
Professional registration with ECSA (Mandatory).
Minimum of at least 10 to 20 years’ water retaining structure-related experience which includes but is not limited to Dam related structures, Hydropower and pump stations, Reservoirs, water treatment plants, and a good understanding of geotechnical engineering.
Proficiency in the following design software; Finite Element Analysis, AutoCAD, Civil 3D(Advantageous), MS Projects and strong MS Excel ability.
Full-time construction-related experience in water engineering projects (minimum period of one year) will be an advantage.
Experience as a project manager in the client space (as the client’s representative or representing the consultant at the client) will be an advantage.
Willing to travel for projects (local and international).
