    Senior Vice President, People and Culture

    Location: Lekki, Lagos

    Job Description

    • We are looking for an experienced SVP, People and Culture to oversee all functions of our People team, provide support to our employees across multiple locations and countries, and help create a culture that is highly productive, meaningful, inclusive, and enjoyable for all people who work at MVXchange.
    • The responsibilities of this role include managing the entire lifecycle of MVXers, implementing new company policies, developing people-oriented strategies, maintaining internal People systems, and implementing world-class people experience programs and initiatives.
    • To be successful in this role, you should have relevant work experience in a senior-level position in a fast-paced and high-growth environment.
    • Ultimately, you will ensure our People initiatives are cost-effective, run smoothly, and contribute to a healthy work and highly productive environment.

    What You’ll Do

    • Demonstrate a commitment to equity, excellence, and high expectations for all MVXers by creating organizational policies and structures that remove barriers foster inclusion, and drive high performance for all employees.
    • Ensures that the organizations develop high-performing, mission-driven culture by strategically gauging staff morale, addressing organizational issues while providing HR solutions, and increasing organizational effectiveness and health, through planned interventions in the organization's processes.
    • Partner with senior management to enhance a positive, engaged culture that works to assimilate the interest, talents, and contributions of all employees in a high-growth environment. Define ways to identify and reinforce the behaviors that exemplify company values. Strive to advance people and implement organizational strategies to shape a high-performing and positively impactful culture.
    • Participates in strategic planning for the organization. Provides leadership and consulting support to executives and management on reinforcing culture, setting goals, developing policy, and implementing strategic objectives. Aligns organizational structure, roles, and responsibilities to achieve goals.
    • Oversees talent management, including staff training and leadership development, retention, recognition, employee communication, and career development. Assesses and evaluates training and staff development needs and develops programs to meet needs.
    • Develop, foster, and maintain effective relationships with all relevant external stakeholders and organizations
    • Develops and maintains performance management and appraisal programs. Provides assistance to employees and supervisors with questions and workplace problems.
    • Develop strategic human resource initiatives for MVX in a manner that will assist in achieving the company’s objectives
    • Identify opportunities geared towards maximizing the company’s productivity
    • Provide strategic People management and leadership support across the business, in line with the overall corporate strategy
    • Oversees compensation and benefits programs, including job description and classification, salary structure, salary adjustments, and employee stock options. Oversees benefit plan, communication, enrollment, and administration. Assesses the competitiveness of human resources programs and practices against the relevant markets and makes recommendations for improvements and changes.
    • Coach and mentor the PeopleOps team to effectively address team member queries in line with our values.
    • Remains current with employment laws and regulations. Maintains an effective program of compliance with laws and regulations related to human resources and manages relationships with compliance agencies and MVXchange’s legal counsel.
    • Lead and manage improvements for people-led initiatives including onboarding, recruiting, learning and development, internal communication, reporting and metrics of Organizational health, Engagement Survey, 360 feedback cycle, and Performance Reviews.
    • Manage vendor renewals and agreements.
    • Develops staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs. Identifies and cultivates appropriate and effective sources for candidates for all levels of jobs.
    • Partner with Finance for budgeting purposes.
    • All other duties as assigned by the CEOs.

    What you’ll Bring
    Experience:

    • Candidates should possess a Master's Degree
    • A minimum of 8 years of professional hands-on experience with technical expertise and professional experience in all aspects of human resources management, culture development, and employee development.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
    • Demonstrated expertise in strategic HR management i.e. planning and policy, talent management, selection, compensation, benefits, training and staff development, employee relations, and performance management
    • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic groups

    Required:

    • Experience at a growth-stage tech company
    • The ability to work autonomously and to drive your own performance & development would be important in this role

    • Prior extensive experience in a People Operations and Strategy role
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Exceptional customer service skills
    • Team player who can jump in and support the team on a variety of topics and tasks
    • Enthusiasm for and broad experience with software tools
    • Proven experience quickly learning new software tools
    • Willing to make People Operations and Strategy as open and transparent as possible
    • Proven organizational skills with great attention to detail and the ability to prioritize
    • You share our values and work in accordance with those values
    • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail is essential
    • High sense of urgency and accuracy.
