Senior Packaging Technical Specialist at IOTA Group - Nigeria

We are seeking two senior expatriate technical consultants to support the stabilization and performance improvement of packaging and maintenance operations across two biscuit manufacturing factories operating over 110 packaging machines.

Objective

To stabilize packaging operations, reduce biscuit and wrapping film scrap, improve sealing performance, and implement structured preventive maintenance across all packaging lines.

Plant Overview

Total Packaging Machines: 110+

Factory 1

• PFM horizontal flowpack machines.
• Kohsla edge pack machines.
• Skywin sandwiching flowpack machines.
• Mixed-age equipment including older flowpack units.

Factory 2

• Vertical volumetric snack baggers (China).
• Skywin autofeed cereal bar flowpack machines.
• Wire cut cookie line with autofeed wrappers.
• Skywin sandwiching flowpack machines.

Core Responsibilities

• Reduce packaging waste and instability.
• Improve seal consistency and eliminate burst/joint packs.
• Improve stacking and feeding synchronization.
• Reduce packaging material scrap.
• Standardize machine setup procedures.
• Improve packaging-related OEE performance.
• Implement structured preventive maintenance routines.
• Train and develop local packaging mechanical leads.
• Introduce structured downtime analysis.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• Minimum 10 years hands-on experience in high-speed packaging machinery.
• Strong experience in biscuit or snack packaging operation.s
• Experience managing 40+ packaging machines simultaneously.
• Strong preventive maintenance orientation.
• Proven ability to reduce packaging rework below 3%.

Required Technical Competencies.

• Horizontal flowpack systems (PFM, Kohsla, Skywin)
• Autofeed and sandwiching systems.
• Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) machines.
• Seal jaw temperature control and tuning.
• Film tension and dancer systems.
• Servo drive synchronization.
• Conveyor timing and stack control.
• Film tracking and registration systems.
• Changeover optimization.
• Root cause mechanical troubleshooting.
