    Senior Network Engineer

    About the Job

    • We are looking to hire a Senior Network Engineer to join our growing Professional Services team. Network Engineers are 'hands-on’, providing design, implementation and operational support services that empower our customers to get the very best from our industry-leading products.
    • You will apply your technical knowledge to design, deploy, optimize customer networks, proactively mitigate risks, test & deploy new software, hardware, and delve into hot issues.
    • The SNE will be a Team Lead and will engage either individually or as part of a larger Professional Services Team, working from both home and on-site locations. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this is a highly technical role, providing post-sales on-site support of networking products.

    Responsibilities

    • Originate and architect detailed design, engineering, and implementation specifications for next- generation networks and solutions.
    • To carry out testing of new Designs, features, and functionality as required by the Customer in a laboratory environment and to help develop plans to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live network
    • To test patches and fixes to operating software and to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly in the pre-production test network and then live network as implementation plans dictate.
    • To carry out Proof-of-concepts of technology solutions.
    • To troubleshoot equipment and network problems and to open and track OEM support cases through to problem resolution on pre and post-production issues.
    • To raise equipment Return Material Authorizations (RMA’s) and to track these through to problem resolution.
    • To produce a written summary report of the status of Design projects, equipment, and network problems on a regular basis to the Customer
    • To hold technology workshops with the Customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being tried.
    • To train the Customer’s design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate OEM products.
    • Support production environment of deployed OEM products within the Customer infrastructure.
    • The SNE is expected to peer with other employees performing similar resident engineering roles where lessons learned may help minimize risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network.

    Qualifications
    The ideal candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
    • At least 8 years of system engineering experience on wireless solutions, networking, and cloud computing.
    • JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, CCIE a strong plus.
    • Knowledge of Python, NETCONF, and PyEZ would be a plus but not a strong requirement.
    • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting multicast environments is a strong plus
    • Hands-on experience with large scale MPLS networks is a strong plus
    • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting large scale L2 switching environments is a strong plus.
    • Good understanding of Network Management, RF, RAN Protocols, IP networking, SDN and virtualized or cloud native technologies.

    Technical Skillset:

    • Comprehensive knowledge of the varying nature of software, hardware and infrastructure projects and capable of working effectively on small, medium, and large projects, spanning both internal development and product selection/acquisition; solid experience in all aspects of the systems development lifecycle and able to lead projects through the entire life cycle.
    • Advanced knowledge of and development/deployment experience with Juniper Networks and Cisco solutions with the following focus:
      • Bandwidth capacity planning
      • Firewall audit logs (SIEM)
      • Core and edge router design
      • External DNS Services
      • LAN and WAN technologies
      • VPN Remote Node Appliance
      • Monitoring Software
    • Working knowledge or experience with one or more of the following technologies:
      • BGP routing metrics
      • VPN (IPSec and GRE)
      • QoS
      • Rate limiting WAN controls
      • Static and Dynamic routing protocols
      • IPv4 and IPv6 Protocols
