    Senior Management Accountant

    Role Overview
    Our client is one of the largest transport and logistics service provider in Sub-Saharan Africa, USA, Europe and Asia.
    We seek to engage the services of a cerebral Senior Management Accountant, who will be responsible for the analysis of financial information and supporting processes to improve the performance of the organisation.

    The successful candidate will generate monthly reporting, budget development, budgetary control, forecasting, financial modelling, and the development, design and implementation of systems and controls, financial policies and procedures and setting a professional standard for the rest of the team in all facets of their work.

    The role also actively monitors business performance and supports the Senior Finance Manager in providing best practices and service excellence across the Finance function in ensuring that all business needs are understood and consistently met through following best practices and company policies and procedures.
    Job Role
    Budgeting and Forecasting

    Take financial ownership of the accuracy and reliability of specified budget areas, monitor budgets, identify areas of financial concern, understand the financial issues and communicate concerns to the leadership. Drive Budgets and Cash Flow Projections. Produce and deliver the annual revenue and capital budgets in accordance with the agreed timetable. Ensure sufficiency of funds to meet operational and capital investment requirements. Forecast cash flow positions and available funds for investment.

    Statutory Compliance

    Provide support to the Finance Manager to ensure all statutory or regulatory returns, reports and disclosures are completed and filed within required time frames and payments are made as directed. Obtain information on taxes and statutory contributions from relevant designated authorities to update the internal business processes. Compute accurate taxes (CIT, EDT, WHT, VAT) based on standard rates and basis. Ensure timely filing of tax returns (WHT & VAT) with all relevant authorities to avoid penalties and fines. Improve on existing tax compliance, deductions, remittances and reporting policies and procedures and the implementation.

    Management Accounting

    Establish and maintain flawless systems of reporting management and performance information as and when due. Drive timely rendition of monthly management accounts, performance indicators, dashboards and supporting information in accordance with the agreed delivery timelines. Strive for continuous improvement through ongoing program of review and documentation of management accounts information.

    Financial Reporting

    Take ownership of the financial reporting and management of key projects, including stakeholder management and risk mitigation. Prepare reports on the company’s assets, financial performance, liquidity and main risks. Drive periodic improvements to the company’s control systems, transaction-processing operations, policies and procedures. Prepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) Recommend any early interventions to address variances. Prepares Management Accounts for financial audit exercise.
    Educational and Professional Qualifications

    First degree in Accounting from a recognized university (minimum of Second Class upper honours). The successful candidate must be a fully qualified accountant (ICAN/ACCA)

    Experience/Training

    • Extensive (6-8years) practical post-qualification experience in accounting or finance roles, including management accountant experience.
    • Excellent working knowledge of Excel, able to write management information, interpret figures and develop key performance indicators
    • High-level skills in financial modelling and use of Financial Management Information systems, spreadsheets and database systems.
    • Substantial knowledge and experience in budget preparation within a complex organisation and analysing information, including financial and management reports.
