Routine Immunization Trainer at Jhpiego - John Hopkins University

Background

• Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of women, newborns, children, and families through evidence-based, quality-driven, and sustainable health system strengthening interventions.
• As part of its mandate, Jhpiego supports national and sub-national governments to enhance the capacity of frontline health workers to deliver high-quality, respectful, and standardized child health services. Immunization remains the most cost-effective intervention for reducing morbidity and mortality among children under five.
• However, gaps persist in provider competencies, adherence to national guidelines, and consistent application of immunization protocols across health facilities.
• To address these gaps, through the Momentum Country Global Leadership-Integrated Health Project (MCGL-IHP), Jhpiego seeks qualified consultants to lead comprehensive immunization training to build provider capacity and improve the quality of immunization service delivery.

Goal:

• To deliver high-quality, immunization trainings that strengthen the ability of healthcare providers to quality immunization services in line with the national and global standard.

Specific Objectives:

• Equip participants with updated knowledge on immunization service delivery.
• Harmonize understanding and application of national immunization SOPs.
• Facilitate hands-on sessions that will include simulations, microplanning, data management and reporting

Scope:

• To build/strengthen capacity of Health Care providersfrom MCGL-IHP implementing state (Ebonyi).

Key Responsibilities
The adhoc shall:

• Review national Basic Guide for Immunization Service Providers
• Align training content with Jhpiego’s immunization standards including integration with other interventions
• Develop/adapt training agenda, session guides, presentations, and practical exercises.
• Participate in planning meetings with Jhpiego technical teams to finalize methodology, materials, and logistics.
• Prepare training supplies and tools needed for drills, group activities, and clinical demonstrations.
• Deliver all training modules using adult learning methodologies and participatory approaches.
• Facilitate hands-on sessions on:
• REW Microplanning
• Immunization session planning and monitoring
• Vaccine Logistics, Supply Chain and Waste Management
• Immunization Data Management
• Adverse Events Following Immunization
• Lead case scenarios, role plays, and practical simulations.
• Document and submit a comprehensive training report to include summary of training activities and methodologies, Pre/post-test results and analysis, Skills assessment outcomes, Identified gaps and recommendations and attendance records.

Required Qualifications:
Deliverables:

• Finalized/approved agenda, methodology, and training materials.
• Delivery of Immunization Training across agreed locations and dates.
• Pre-test and post-test datasets with analysis.
• Skills assessment results with competency scoring.
• Training materials (slides, agendas, case studies) in editable electronic formats.
• Final Training Report meeting Jhpiego documentation standards.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, Public Health, or a child health–related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Certified Routine Immunization Trainer
• Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting immunization trainings and capacity building.
• Demonstrated ability to apply adult learning and competency-based training methodologies.
• Experience collaborating with government health institutions and development partners.
• Strong report-writing, communication, and data interpretation skills.
