Research & Development Officer at Pearls and Wellbeing Foundation (PWF)

Main objective and responsibility of the position

• Coordinating research and building organizational capacity on research, creating knowledge and bridging knowledge gaps towards evidence-informed policy making and management support.

Key Area of Accountability

• As a member of the Research and Development Team, you will contribute to the Support of developing of an organizational culture, that reflects our dual mandate values, promotes accountability and high performance, encourage a team culture of learning creativity, innovation, and frees up PWF team
• You will also be responsible for carrying out research proposal and grant relating to PWF thematic areas.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Document all phases of research and development
• Writing of proposal
• Support Director to hire and develop Research and Development Personnel
• Oversee complex research projects, analyze results and provide recommendations based on findings
• Assess the scope of proposal and projects to ensure they are submitted before the deadline and within budget
• Organizing knowledge and skills sharing to increase organizational research capacity
• Assisting and controlling quality of all projects across divisions, including but not limited to research designs, methods, data management strategies, data analysis, and publication writing
• Aligning focus and research priorities; identifying potential external research grants
• Provide research work, support for data and assist to provide evidence for project implementation
• Establish project goals and priorities by collaborating with relevant department
• Communicating with Impact
• Communicates clearly and confidently with others to engage and influence; promotes dialogue and ensures timely and appropriate messages, building confidence and trust.

REQUIREMENTS (QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE)

Education

Skill

• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Science or any Social Sciences related discipline. (MSc will be as added advantage)
• Proposal writing and Familiarity with northern context

Experience

Expertise

• At least 2 years’ experience in research and development related jobs
• Medical Doctor, Nurse, Gender expert, Nutrition specialist, Finance/budget expert
• Languages Essential English language and any other local language desirable
• Knowledge Computer literacy
• Competencies Strong proposal writing, Results and Quality Orientation, Teamwork and Cooperation, Behavioral Flexibility, Commitment to PWF Principles, Service Orientation, Stress Management.
