Research Assistant - Facility Maintenance at IITA - International Institute of Tropical Agriculture

Duties

• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of research infrastructure, including animal housing, water systems, and equipment.
• Assist in repairs and upkeep of farm and laboratory facilities.
• Ensure safety standards are maintained across all operational areas.
• Support logistics for field and lab activities, including equipment setup and transport.
• Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.
• Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

• HND / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agriculture or related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing similar role in a well-structured environment.

Competencies

• Have strong organizational and communication skills.
• Be experienced in facility maintenance and basic data handling.
• Be familiar with digital tools for data entry and reporting (e.g., Excel, Google Forms).
• Have the ability to work independently and in a team setting.
