Job Summary

• The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs related to construction projects, from initial estimates through to final accounts.
• The role ensures that projects are completed within budget while maintaining the required quality and compliance standards.
• The Quantity Surveyor prepares cost estimates, manages contracts, evaluates variations, and provides commercial advice to support efficient project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies and cost planning for proposed projects.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and project budgets.
• Prepare tender documentation and evaluate contractor and supplier bids.
• Negotiate contracts and procurement terms with contractors and suppliers.
• Administer construction contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
• Prepare and manage project cash flow forecasts.
• Monitor project costs and provide regular cost reports and forecasts.
• Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to optimize project expenditure.
• Measure completed works and certify interim and final payments.
• Assess, value, and negotiate variations, claims, and change orders.
• Maintain accurate project records, documentation, and commercial reports.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
• Ensure compliance with applicable construction regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Support dispute resolution and preparation of final accounts.

Qualifications

• First Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, preferably within the construction industry.
• Professional certification or membership with a recognized quantity surveying institution is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and contracts.
• Sound understanding of procurement and tendering processes.
• Excellent cost estimation and budgeting skills.
• Proficiency in quantity surveying and project management software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
• Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
