Quantity Surveyor at a Foremost Manufacturing Company

BM Direct, a subsidiary of Point Edge Limited, is one of Nigeria's leading manufacturers of timber and steel doors. We have been developing and constantly improving, with over two decades of supplying and installing an extensive range of interior and exterior bespoke doors to complement the development of private and public buildings. Our collection includes security doors made from steel, or a combination of steel, armor panels, and timber, usually accompanied with heavy-duty European multipoint lock mechanisms. We also produce hardwood timber doors (including French, panel, flush, and contemporary doors) and manufacture wardrobes and kitchen cabinets. 

BM Direct is looking to employ the services of a Quantity Surveyor (QS), and our expectations are stated below:

OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE

• Manage cost and project timelines.
• Contribute ideas for the progress of the company.
• Ensure products meet legal and quality standards.
• Strategize, implement, and oversee production processes for increased productivity and growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preparing and analysing project costings.
• Performing risk, value management, and cost control during production.
• Hiring and documenting contractors and subcontractors.
• Identifying, analysing, and developing responses to commercial risks.
• Examining outcomes and writing detailed progress reports.
• Acting as a liaison between clients and the production team.
• Keeping inventory and tracking production materials.
• Developing and maintaining working relationships with contractors and subcontractors.
• Valuing completed projects to determine ROI and compare costs.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Three years (or more) of experience in a manufacturing company as a QS. 
• Ability to analyse financial records and apply data to improve results.
• In-depth understanding of the industry.
• Strong aptitude for numbers, spreadsheets, and financial reports.
• Knowledge of financial and budgetary processes.
• Up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry trends.

QUALIFICATION

• Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction engineering, management, or related fields.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

HOURS AND WORK SCHEDULE

• Hours per week: 45
• Work Schedule: Monday – Friday
