    Protection from Violence Officer (Data Management)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    These strategic locations have allowed NRC greater reach from the north and south parts of the North-East and North Central region and allowed NRC to contribute to bridging the gap between humanitarian aid and development cooperation, including by focusing on equitable access to basic services and strengthening the rights of displaced people and returnees. In addition to the Country Office and the above-mentioned Area Offices, NRC has sub-office structures in Monguno, Biu, Mubi, Pulka and Gwoza.
    We are looking for people who are passionate about helping refugees and people forced to flee. 
    If you are those people, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Protection from Violence Officer (Data Management) to join our team in Maiduguri, Borno State. You will be responsible for data validation, developing monthly reports and filing in both soft and hard copies of project documents for the NRC Area North office.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Generic responsibilities 

    • Contribute to the implementation of PfV projects in Borno State.
    • Contribute to the establishment of a responsive database with accurate data.
    • Support PfV staff in collecting proper data and validation.
    • Support the production of PfV reports and protection analysis.
    • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
    • Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities.
    • Promote the rights of IDPs in line with NRC’s advocacy strategy.
    • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines. 
    • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.

    Specific responsibilities 

    • Support the setting up of a safe, user-friendly, and efficient protection information management system that allows for information triangulation and trend analysis through documentation, implementation, and coordination of standardized information flows.
    • Guarantee information flow, storage, and archiving of data and ensure data analysis and visualization (e.g., Power BI).
    • Ensure the protection of data according to NRC’s standard requirement.
    • Provides quality control and oversight of the data that is being collected and identifies and addresses errors in collection or input.
    • Provide training and support to NRC staff on data capture, analysis, and use.
    • Liaises with other units on areas of common responsibility.
    • Support Protection Case Management database, protection monitoring system, and protection referral tracking system.
    • Perform daily data entry of the collected documents to the database of site management and protection specialized responses.
    • Prepare, maintain, and update files (electronic and hard copy).
    • Ensure proper data protection of sensitive information at the field level, development and maintenance of databases, filing of documents, etc.
    • Produces detailed, relevant, and high-quality qualitative and quantitative reports and alerts as requested.
    • Participate in documentation of the project for lessons learned and provide inputs and feedback to Protection PDM.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Generic professional competencies: 

    • Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context.
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
    • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
    • Fluency in English, both written and verbal 

    Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience: 

    • Previous experience in managing information systems.
    • Skills and knowledge of information management and IT (software and networks)
    • Minimum 2 years of experience working in information management, preferably in the protection sector (GBVIMS, CPIMS, protection monitoring, etc.)
    • Professional knowledge of IT and software management 
    • Skills in monitoring and evaluation would be beneficial.
