Project Manager (Core Banking Implementation) at RMB Nigeria Stockbrokers Limited

The project manager is responsible for managing the planning, governance and implementation of the core banking application and other business transformation projects. The project manager is responsible for ensuring that the execution of projects in the organization aligns with the FirstRand project management standards as well as international best practices.

The candidate should have strong leadership skill, strong program/project management skills, in- depth knowledge of core banking systems and good networking and inter-personal skills.

The project manager would regularly interact regularly with vendors, regulators, auditors, specialized technical teams, project managers within the First Rand group, executive management and the board of RMB Nigeria.

Responsibilities:

Project Management and Administration

• Providing strategic, technical, operational, financial, and managerial leadership of all
• projects and major business initiatives under their purview.
• Accepting business requests, assembling stakeholders and forming necessary steering
• committee/governance groups.
• Managing stakeholder engagement and decision-making process
• Reporting the progress of project/program Implementation to all stakeholders – both internal and external.
• Providing oversight of project/program implementation including all activities, outputs,
• and outcomes related to project management and administration, including reporting,
• budget development and monitoring, financial transactions, execution of project plans,
• and project performance.
• Overseeing budget development, monitoring, financial transactions, and budget performance.
• Managing vendors/third parties and ensuring that they meet their contractual obligations
• Ensuring that all projects and business initiatives comply with legal and regulatory requirements as well as First Rand policies and standards.

Core-Banking Implementation

• Implementing & supporting core banking, peripheral, electronic channels and specialized
• applications
• Ensuring a smooth implementation and transition within the set timeframe without any disruption to ongoing business of the organization
• Ensuring that the core banking platform strategically positions the organization for growth and to meet future challenges
• Delivering a flexible solution that would support future needs with little or no enhancements.
• Securing necessary regulatory, data privacy, information security and other business approvals relevant to the implementation
• Ensuring the integrity, confidentiality and availability of customer’s information.

Effective internal and external stakeholder relationship management

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders, displaying excellent abilities to initiate dialogue and listen, advise, influence and negotiate.
• Initiate meetings with key stakeholders to track progress, manage expectations and ensure stakeholders’ needs are met;
• Ensure business expectations are met or exceeded.
• Use influence and negotiation to achieve win-win outcomes;
• Proactively communicate and share information and encourage discussion and debate (share successes and highlight challenges).

Qualifications and Experience:

Education and Qualifications

• The successful candidate should have at the minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or a related discipline. A master’s degree would be an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a similar role and relevant industry
• Ability to negotiate and influence across all levels including senior stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of core banking platforms and electronic banking systems
• Detailed understanding of the Nigerian Banking Industry

Professional Qualifications

• Relevant project management certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, PMI/PMBOK etc.
• Technology Certifications such as TOGAF, COBIT, ITIL etc.
• CIBN certification would also be an advantage

Technical Skills and Competences

• Extensive experience in various project management methodologies (such as Waterfall, Agile, SCRUM, LEAN etc.)
• Familiarity with project management tools (esp. JIRA and Microsoft Project)
• In-depth knowledge of banking operation and products
• In-depth knowledge of core banking system and electronic banking platforms
• Knowledge of system design, architecture and implementations.
• Knowledge of process automation
• Reporting (Power BI, crystal reports)
