    Programs & Technical Manager

    Job Description:

     Provides strategic leadership for all program design, implementation, and technical quality assurance. Ensures all interventions align with OHRI\'s One Health mandate, donor expectations, and national policies.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development of annual program work plans, budgets, and technical strategies.
    • Oversee the implementation of all thematic programs (One Health, AMR, climate resilience, public health, biodiversity).
    • Ensure technical quality and compliance with organizational standards and donor guidelines.
    • Supervise Program Officers, Technical Officers, and external consultants.
    • Represent OHRI in technical working groups, government meetings, and partnership forums.
    • Prepare high-quality technical reports, proposals, and concept notes for funding.
    • Monitor program performance against indicators and ensure timely course correction.

    Specific Requirements:

    • Master\'s degree or higher in Public Health, Environmental Science, Veterinary Medicine, Development Studies, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in program management within NGOs, government, or international development organizations.
    • Demonstrated expertise in One Health, climate change adaptation, or public health systems strengthening.
    • Proven track record in proposal writing, budget management, and donor reporting (UNDP, GEF, EU, USAID, or similar).
    • Strong leadership, team management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Willingness to commit full-time for a minimum of 6–12 months.

    GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

    • Nature of Engagement: Unpaid volunteer service (non-remunerative).
    • Duration: Minimum commitment of 3–6 months; renewable based on performance and organizational need.
    • Locations: Adamawa State (Headquarters), Gombe State, Jigawa State, Kano State, Abuja FCT, and remote/virtual options for select roles.
    • Work Schedule: Full-time (5+ days/week), part-time (2–4 days/week), or weekend-only, depending on role and agreement.
    • Start Date: Rolling basis — shortlisted candidates will be contacted individually for onboarding.
    • Reporting Structure: Each volunteer reports to their respective Unit Manager or State Coordinator, with overall oversight from the Executive Director.

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (APPLY TO ALL POSITIONS)

    • Must be a Nigerian citizen or legal resident.
    • Minimum age of 18 years.
    • Strong commitment to OHRI\'s mission, vision, and core values (Resilience, Inclusivity, Stewardship, Integrity, Evidence, Collaboration).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Hausa or local languages is an advantage.
    • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively in multicultural teams.
    • Willingness to travel to field locations within assigned states, including rural and underserved communities.
    • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, email, internet); advanced digital skills required for technical roles.
    • Must possess a valid means of identification (National ID, Voter\'s Card, Driver\'s License, or International Passport).

    SELECTION PROCESS

    • Application Screening: All applications are reviewed for completeness, relevance of qualifications, and alignment with OHRI values.
    • Shortlisting: Candidates who meet the minimum requirements are shortlisted and contacted via email or WhatsApp.
    • Interview: Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview — in-person for Adamawa/Gombe applicants, or virtual (Zoom/WhatsApp Video) for applicants in other locations.
    • Reference Check: OHRI will contact the professional references provided by shortlisted candidates.
    • Offer & Onboarding: Successful candidates receive a volunteer offer letter, orientation pack, and volunteer agreement before deployment.
