    Program Officer - Gender Based Violence and Harassment (GBVH)

    Summary

    • Solidarity Center seeks to hire an experienced Program Officer to focus our Gender Based Violence and Harassment (GBVH) program.
    • This individual must have substantive experience and skills in gender equality and women’s empowerment issues, knowledge of methodologies and best practices for promoting gender equality, equity and women empowerment, and experience with implementing gender mainstreaming agendas across a variety of sectors.
    • We are looking for someone who can produce well-written program reports and evaluations and can effectively monitor complex programs to meet budget targets and programmatic results.
    • This individual will provide advice and guidance to the West Africa Country Program Director regarding the development and implementation of programs, drafting and submission of concept papers and project proposals to donors.
    • The Program Officer must be able to write persuasive proposals, describe complex activities, and develops budget for those activities.
    • The Program Officer may assist with and, when necessary, provide logistical support for international visitors and participants for programs conducted by the Solidarity Center, AFL-CIO, and/or other related organizations.
    • This individual may represent Solidarity Center at various meetings and conferences, and coordinate with NGO and U.S. Government agencies. The Program Officer may be required to travel within Nigeria and West Africa.

    Basic Qualifications

    • S/he must have, at a minimum, a Master's Degree in Political Science, International Relations, Labor Relations, or related fields and/or seven years equivalent work experience.
    • The Program Officer must have ability to work and interact easily with wide variety of people and help lead effective teamwork.
    • She/he must have broad knowledge of labor, socio-economic, and. political developments in West Africa, the U.S. and across the globe.
    • Previous trade union experience is highly desirable.
    • S/he must be able to work independently and complete assignments with limited supervision.
    • S/he must be capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
    • Strong verbal and writing skills are necessary.
    • Computer literacy for word processing and simple spreadsheets required.
