Production Manager at Smart Partners

Job Overview

• Our client in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, specializing in the production of high-quality snacks is currently in need of a production manager.
• The Production Manager will play a critical role in overseeing our snack production operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met.
• Reporting directly to the Managing Director/Owner initially, with subsequent reporting to the General Manager, this position offers an opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead a dynamic team and drive continuous improvement in our production processes.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demands and company objectives.
• Lead and manage a team of production staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
• Monitor production processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, maintaining a safe working environment for all employees.
• Oversee inventory management and material sourcing to minimize waste and optimize resource utilization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, maintenance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
• Drive initiatives to enhance product quality, consistency, and cost-effectiveness, while minimizing production downtime.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and assessments of production equipment and facilities, recommending upgrades or replacements as needed.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices to streamline production processes and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices, incorporating relevant advancements into production strategies.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Food Science, or related field. Master's Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in the FMCG industry, with at least 3 years of experience specifically in the snacks space.
• Proven track record of success in production management, with a focus on snacks manufacturing.
• Experience with extruded snacks, baked goods, or fried snacks preferred.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strategic thinking, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
• Familiarity with production planning software and ERP systems.
• Nigerian candidates are preferred, but expatriates with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
