    Product Owner

    Our client is a a new start-up company focused on E-invitation solutions. They are currently seeking to hire a PRODUCT OWNER. As a Product Owner you will act as the “Owner” of the E-Invitation platform/website by working with prospective customers, developers, and the founder to ensure that market needs are fully understood, and the development team is building the most valuable features possible.

    Job Responsibilities

    Responsibilities would change depending on the Phase of the Project.

    Phase1: Development of the website/platform.

    • Own the Business Requirement document (this is already developed) and improve on it by narrowing down or improving on the requirements based on your software engineering skills.
    • Break the requirements into meaningful Releases and advise the founder accordingly. For example, launch website with these 10 functionalities in 2022(Release 1), launch additional 5 functionalities in 2024 (Release 2) etc.
    • Handover the requirements to the offshore development team
    • Work closely with the offshore development team on a daily basis to ensure the solution being built meets the requirements.

    Phase: 2/Testing

    • Work with the offshore developer to understand the basic back end maintenance on the E-invitation platform and maintain the necessary data.
    • Document ‘User Guides” or “How to” documents on how other staff can manage the website.
    • Test the solution and work with the development team to resolve any issue found.
    • Recruit paid testers for additional User and performance Testing once development is complete, and resolve issues reported or escalate to the developer.

    Phase 3/Launch Product

    • Work with the Business Analyst on the team to identify target users to help launch the web site.
    • Work with the Business Analyst to define ways of working with the 3rd party vendors
    • Perform simple back-end maintenance or contact development team for complex issue resolution.
    • Perform other product owner activities as needed.

    Job Requirements

    • Relevant training, certification and education
    • Proven experience with basic development/software
    • Engineering skills
    • Business understanding of how events/social gatherings work in Africa.
    • Ability to call out any wrong coding/design that could cause issues in the future.
    • Sense of ownership and responsibility
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Good communication (written and verbal) skills
