    Procurement Officer

    Job Code: OM-PO-051-01

    Job Description

    • The position holder shall be responsible for evaluating suppliers, products, and services, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that approved purchases are cost-efficient and of high quality.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the development and implementation of procurement policies and procedures that align with business objectives and ensure compliance with regulations.
    • Assist in identifying procurement needs and work with other departments to develop procurement plans and specifications.
    • Assist in identifying and evaluating potential vendors and suppliers, and preparing requests for proposals and quotes.
    • Support the negotiation of contracts and terms of service with vendors and suppliers.
    • Assist in monitoring vendor performance and managing vendor relationships.
    • Assist in ensuring timely delivery of goods and services and managing inventory levels.
    • Support the procurement budget and provide regular reporting on procurement activities.
    • Maintain procurement records and ensure compliance with procurement regulations and policies.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in procurement operations.
    • Collaborate with the Procurement Manager and other departments to ensure effective procurement operations.

    Qualifications, Experience, and Attributed Skills

    • First Degree in a related discipline from a reputable university.
    • 4-6 years cognate experience. Experience in coordinating high-value complex multiple procurement programs related to infrastructure projects will be an advantage.
    • Relevant certifications e.g., Certified Purchasing Manager will be an added advantage.
    • Excellent Communication skills (oral and written), Ability to prioritize and schedule tasks. Excellent negotiation and people management skills.
    • Excellent analysis skills.
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools.
