• The procurement officer’s responsibilities include strategizing to find cost-effective deals and reliable vendors.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating suppliers, maintaining relationships, and ensuring the cost-effective procurement of raw materials that meet the company specifications.
• Monitoring inventory levels of items that are needed for day-to-day operations in order to ensure that there is an adequate supply on hand.
• Coordinating with vendors to ensure that they meet all compliance requirements.
• Negotiating prices on behalf of the company with suppliers or contractors.
• Maintain purchase records and other important documents for the department.
• Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships.
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
• Collaborate with key people to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company.
• Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers.

Requirements and Skills

• BSc/HND degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration, or any other related field.
• 2-3 years working experience as a Procurement Officer.
• Possess virtues of truthfulness and integrity.
• Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as dexterity in “reading” the market.
• Talent in negotiations and networking.
• Good knowledge of supplier or third-party management software.
• Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers.
• Experience in collecting and analyzing data.
• Strong leadership capabilities.
• Strong organizational skills.
