    Power Plant Operator

    Job Summary

    • A4&T Power Solutions is seeking a skilled, safety‑focused Power Plant Operator to join our operations team. You will be responsible for real‑time monitoring, control, and efficient operation of our renewable generation facility from the central control room, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and grid compliance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Power Plant Operations

    • Monitor, operate, and adjust generation equipment (turbines, transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear).
    • Serve as the first point of contact for grid‑operator communications and ensure compliance with interconnection requirements.
    • Perform routine inspections of mechanical and electrical systems to guarantee safe, efficient operation.
    • Record and analyze operational data (voltage, load, pressure, fuel usage).
    • Execute start‑up and shut‑down procedures and routine system checks.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Follow industry safety regulations and company policies at all times.
    • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), toolbox talks, and adhere to lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
    • Respond to plant emergencies, alarms, and abnormal conditions with appropriate corrective actions.

    Performance & Reporting

    • Track and report plant availability, production efficiency (PR), and downtime events.
    • Identify trends, suggest improvements, and flag recurring issues to Maintenance and Engineering teams.
    • Assist with testing and commissioning of new equipment or software updates.

    • Capacity Factor
    • Heat Rate
    • Forced Outage Rate
    • Safety Performance
    • Environmental Compliance

    Working Conditions

    • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, holidays and be on standby for emergency call‑outs.
    • Use of specialized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

    Required Qualifications & Experience

    • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
    • 3–5 years experience in power generation, transmission, or distribution (lineman or plant‑operator background).
    • Certifications (preferred/advantageous): NERC Certification, Certified Plant Operator, OSHA Safety.
    • Hands‑on experience with HV/MV substation operations and switching procedures.
    • Knowledge of predictive‑maintenance platforms and data‑analysis tools.
    • Familiarity with relevant grid codes and market operations.

    Skills

    • Strong knowledge of power‑generation equipment and high‑voltage systems.
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
    • Basic computer literacy (MS Office, plant‑monitoring software).
