Poultry Technician at Roostline Farms

Responsibilities

• Monitor breeder flocks daily to ensure bird health, welfare, and production performance.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot farm equipment (feeders, drinkers, ventilation, lighting, and egg collection systems).
• Perform routine electrical and mechanical maintenance on automated poultry housing and control systems.
• Assist with egg collection, handling, and quality checks.
• Prior work with major poultry producers (e.g., Zartech, Amo, Chi Farms, Olam, or international equivalents)
• Maintain accurate flock records, including egg production, mortality, and feed consumption.
• Support vaccination, biosecurity, and flock health programs under farm management direction.
• Ensure compliance with animal welfare, health, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with the farm manager on continuous improvement and preventative maintenance schedules.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related technical field (Mechanical/Electrical). Relevant hands-on experience in poultry farm operations may substitute for formal education.
• Minimum 2 – 3 years of experience in poultry breeder operations (preferred) or commercial poultry farming.
• Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with automated poultry housing systems is highly desired.
• Ability to work with modern farm control systems (ventilation, feeding, and climate control).
• Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and proactive work ethic.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and live near the farm site if required.
