Plumber at Redeemers Health Village

Job Summary

• The Plumber is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of all plumbing systems within Redeemer’s Health Village.
• This includes ensuring the efficient operation of piping, water supply, drainage systems, and other plumbing-related equipment.
• The Plumber will work in compliance with safety standards and regulations, providing a safe and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
Installation and Maintenance:

• Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in healthcare environments.
• Conduct routine inspections of plumbing systems and equipment to identify and address any issues promptly.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and reliability of plumbing systems.

Emergency Repairs:

• Respond to plumbing emergencies such as leaks, blockages, and system failures promptly and efficiently.
• Diagnose problems, determine the best solutions, and carry out necessary repairs to minimize downtime.

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure all plumbing work is carried out in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

Collaboration and Coordination:

• Work closely with other members of the facilities management team to coordinate plumbing work with other maintenance and repair activities.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare staff to understand and address their plumbing needs and concerns.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of all plumbing work, including inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Prepare reports on the status of plumbing systems and any issues encountered for review by the Head of Facilities Management.

Tools and Equipment:

• Use and maintain plumbing tools and equipment properly, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Order and manage plumbing supplies and materials as needed to ensure availability for maintenance and repair tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification or vocational training in plumbing.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a plumber, preferably in a healthcare or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.

Working Conditions

• The Plumber will work in various areas of the healthcare facility, including patient care areas, mechanical rooms, and outdoor spaces.
• May be required to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Must adhere to all safety and health regulations while performing duties.
• May need to be on-call for emergency repairs outside of regular working hours.
