    Plant Manager

    Brief Description

    • The Plant Manager shall be responsible for managing the BU power generation plant to which he is assigned.
    • This function shall include the management of physical assets, personnel, operations, maintenance, and maintaining relationships with external parties.

    Responsibilities
    Technical Function:

    • Responsible for power plant Operations and Maintenance (O and M)
    • Develops operating procedures, operation report formats and maintenance planning and execution documents of the power systems and if the requirements are already in existence, he shall review them in the last month of every operating year and ensure they are well adapted to the plant under his charge.
    • Coordinate scheduled inspections and ensure that reports are submitted, appropriately circulated and filed after sign-off by all relevant parties
    • Coordinate corrective maintenance based on the manufacturer’s recommendations, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop and maintain equipment records in electronic book formats with the maintenance plans, procedures, and schedules. This shall dovetail into the Plant Maintenance Schedule
    • Schedule outages and equipment shutdown decisions if needed
    • Strategically conduct walk around to verify and assess plant conditions
    • Determines material, manpower, and service requirements within the supporting budget
    • Monitors work activities to identify and resolve schedule impacts and conflicts.
    • Researches maintenance history and identifies required technical improvements of the plant.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Managerial Functions:

    • Work with other managers in running the company effectively by contributing ideas that will make the company move in the right direction
    • Contribute in establishing policies and procedures relating directly to the Plant and organization as a whole.
    • Identify and select technical staff that fit the plant work plan
    • Management of all the staff (technical and non-technical )that works on the Power Plant
    • Attends planning meetings to provide input and coordinate plant activities
    • Interfaces with technicians, supervisors, and operators to clarify issues regarding scope, materials, and testing requirements
    • Plans, schedules, reviews workload and ensures targets are met
    • Responsible for cost control
    • Responsible for all the assets on the plant
    • Liaise with vendors and contractors

    Expected Outcome

    • Seamless and uninterrupted operations of the Power Plant.
    • Control the functioning of power-generating equipment to ensure they run smoothly without interruption, defects or malfunctions
    • Real-time feedback to management on service and operational standards of the Plant
    • Well-informed and motivated technical staff
    • Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure all tasks are accomplished safely and with a focus on quality
    • All tasks are completed in accordance with the local Environmental, Safety and Health directives
    • Customer concerns addressed promptly in a professional and courteous manner
    • Total Quality Management.

    Requirements

    • Candidates should possess a B.Eng Degree with at least 5 years relevant work experience.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Familiarity with the national electric code
    • Ability to operate, repair and maintain technical equipment
    • Leadership skills with integrity
    • Strong planning and problem-solving skills
    • Computer literacy with excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Time management, multitasking and collaborative skills
    • People management/business management skills
    • An eye for quality.
