Job Summary

• As an Operations Risk Officer, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing operational risks within the organization.
• You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and secure functioning of our operational processes while minimizing potential disruptions and financial losses.
• Your role will involve collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with risk management policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of operational processes, systems, and activities to identify potential risks and control weaknesses.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and control measures to minimize the likelihood and impact of identified risks.
• Continuously monitor operational processes and activities to detect emerging risks and provide regular reports to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure the organization complies with relevant regulations and industry standards related to operational risk management.
•  Lead or support incident response efforts when operational risks materialize, including conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of operational risk management policies, procedures, and guidelines.
•  Educate employees and teams about operational risks, controls, and best practices to foster a culture of risk awareness and responsibility.
• Analyze data and metrics related to operational risks to identify trends and areas of concern, allowing for proactive risk management.
• Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders, including legal, compliance, and internal audit teams, to ensure a coordinated approach to operational risk management.
• Maintain comprehensive records of risk assessments, mitigation efforts, and incident reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk management or a related field. 
• Minimum of Five (5) years relevant post-qualification experience
• Master's degree or Professional certification, e.g. FRM, CIA, CISRM, CERA or other relevant professional certificate is an added advantage 
• Strong understanding of operational risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to use quantitative and qualitative methods to assess and quantify operational risks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements.
• Effective problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships.
• Adaptability to changing risk landscapes and evolving business environments.
• Familiarity with risk management software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
