    Offshore Ship Supervisor

    Office: GDNL Terminal ‘E’ Admin Building, 1st Floor, Apapa Port Complex, Apapa Wharf, Lagos-Nigeria.

    Reports to: Head, Bluestar Shipping

    Job Summary

    This role serves as the vital link between sea-bound cargo operations and shore side regulatory compliance. The role involves overseeing the arrival, boarding, discharge processes for Crude and product vessels to ensure seamless operations.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Vessel Supervision: Oversee and coordinate all operational aspects of crude oil and liquid product tanker movements within the terminal and offshore anchorage zones.
    • Agency Coordination: Coordinate directly with port officials and marine logistics teams to arrange positioned service crafts for the safe boarding of government delegation teams.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Manage end-to-end regulatory compliance for vessel operations by preparing, validating, and distributing Notices of Arrival (NOA) and official advices to all relevant federal port agencies.
    • Statement of Facts (SOF): Draft, compile, and finalize the official Statement of Facts (SOF) at the Dangote Single Point Mooring (SPM) for all discharging Crude Oil Tanker vessels.
    • Discharge Monitoring: Monitor, calculate, and collate daily discharge tonnages and cargo transfer figures for crude and refined product vessels to ensure accuracy against manifest data.
    • Operational Reporting: Provide structured, real-time offshore operational updates, delays, and vessel clearance statuses to the Lagos corporate office.
    • Stakeholder Relations: Maintain professional, courteous, and compliant relations with internal logistics teams, ship captains, port authorities, and external maritime partners.

    Competence Requirements

    • Practical knowledge of shipping operations, vessel boarding workflows, and clearance documentation procedures involving government agencies (e.g., NPA, NIMASA, Customs, Immigration).
    • Solid understanding of supervisory oversight onboard marine vessels.
    • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills for verifying discharge tonnages and tracking operational timings.
    • Excellent logical reasoning, report writing, record-keeping, and independent decision-making abilities.
    • Savvy with modern digital tools and highly competent in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for compiling maritime reports and dashboards.
    • Proven integrity and a positive attitude. Exceptional planning and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively and safely without close supervision in demanding offshore environments.
    • Strong, courteous verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to adhere to corporate policies and standard procedures.

    • Experience in communicating effectively with internal teams, Port authorities, and external partners.
    • Positive Attitude.

    Educational Qualification

    • Minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Maritime Transport & Business Studies, Shipping/Ports Operations & Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

    Professional Qualification

    • Professional membership or certifications within recognized shipping and maritime industry bodies (e.g., ICS, CIOTA, NMIM) is a distinct advantage.

    Desired Experience

    • Minimum of two (2) years of active, hands-on working experience within shipping operations, marine agency services, or a closely related maritime field.
