Medical Laboratory Scientist at Afriglobal Group

Description

We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to become a part of our diagnostic team. The responsibilities of this role include sampling and testing body fluid and tissues. All applicants must have an understanding of both hematology and chemistry.

Candidates must have certification, prior experience as a medical laboratory Scientist, and be familiar with medical terminology. As a Laboratory Scientist, you must keep your license up-to-date and follow all standard guidelines for medical waste.

Responsibilities:

• Streamline testing workflow, sample flow within laboratory
• Substitute for testing hand, if needed at any given situation
• Ensures proper receipt of samples, from dispatch riders and other collection centers
• Ensures good coordination between phlebotomy and laboratory.
• Ensures timely and appropriate communication of any challenge that will affect TAT to other departments
• Control TAT for productivity and ensure timely results
• Responsible for quality control of the medical laboratory
• Monthly examines all control data for possible trends, preferably in format.
• Responsible for the requisition of necessary supplies and reagents.
• Guarantees all reagents & supplies have not expired & that there is sufficient quantity in inventory.
• Ensures that corrective laboratory actions are noted on proper form per SOP
• Ensure proper documentation, record and archiving of equipment, reagent and sample logs, etc
• Any other role which requires participation.
• Coordinate calibration of equipment, quality control
• Ensuring samples are properly handled according to standard operating procedures
• Ensure compliance of SOP’s, GCLP’s and guidelines for both local & international accreditation.

Requirements

• Qualification of BMLS /AMLS in Medical Laboratory Science
• Medical laboratory Scientist License (Including current License)
• Excellent Communication Skill
• Good Interpersonal Relationship
• Ability to both function independently and collaborate with a team
• Strong attention to detail
