    Medical Director

    Position Summary

    • The Medical Director plays a foundational role in the establishment and launch of the clinic. This position is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, leading the development of comprehensive clinical protocols and workflows, and ensuring the delivery of safe, ethical, and high-quality patient care. The Medical Director ensures that all clinical services align with applicable Nigerian healthcare regulations and are responsive to community needs.

    Foundational Collaboration & Local Presence

    • This is a founding, on-site leadership position requiring close, daily collaboration with the Clinic Manager
    • This role requires physical presence in Akure, Ondo State and active participation in pre-opening planning, staff training, and clinic readiness activities
    • Candidates must be available to begin work approximately 6–8 weeks prior to the planned clinic opening in June 2026 to support foundational setup and system development.
    • This position is not remote

    Key Responsibilities

    Clinic Establishment & Clinical Protocol Development

    • Lead the development, documentation, and implementation of comprehensive clinical protocols, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all services offered by the clinic
    • Ensure clinical protocols align with applicable Nigerian healthcare regulations and standards, including guidelines issued by the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Ondo State Ministry of Health, and relevant Local Government Area health authorities
    • Support clinic licensing, inspections, and readiness for operational launch
    • Participate in phased service rollout planning and service expansion
    • Work in close partnership with the Clinic Manager to ensure clinical protocols are operationally feasible, compliant, and sustainable

    Clinical Oversight & Workflow Design

    • Design, implement, and oversee clinical workflows for:
    • Adult primary care services
    • Gynecologic and reproductive health services
    • Pediatric and well-baby care
    • Routine and expanded vaccination services
    • Antenatal (prenatal) care
    • Malaria and HIV care
    • Minor injury care
    • Adapt workflows to staffing capacity, available resources, and local community needs
    • Support continuous improvement of care delivery systems

    Patient Care Coordination

    • Serve as a liaison between patients, clinical staff, and healthcare providers to ensure continuity and quality of care
    • Establish referral and escalation pathways for cases requiring higher-level or specialized care
    • Promote patient-centered and culturally appropriate care

    Medical Equipment Oversight

    • Contribute to the selection, distribution, and appropriate use of medical equipment
    • Establish equipment usage protocols and maintenance schedules
    • Collaborate with clinic management on equipment procurement and replacement planning

    Compliance, Quality & Training

    • Ensure implementation of infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols
    • Support training of clinical staff on SOPs, patient safety, and quality standards
    • Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives

    Required Qualifications

    • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification recognized in Nigeria
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in outpatient or primary healthcare settings
    • Experience contributing to clinical workflow or protocol development
    • Strong understanding of Nigerian primary healthcare delivery systems
    • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills
    • Computer and electronic health record system literacy

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience establishing or scaling healthcare services
    • Prior involvement in SOP or clinical protocol development
    • Experience in maternal and child health services

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Monthly compensation range: ₦200,000 – ₦250,000, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibility
    • The upper end of the range reflects the expected compensation for a fully qualified candidate taking on full clinical leadership and protocol development responsibilities
    • This is a founding leadership role, and compensation reflects the added responsibility of clinic establishment and pre-launch work
    • Benefits and additional allowances (if applicable) will be discussed with shortlisted candidates as the clinic’s benefits structure is finalized

    Application Timeline & Hiring Process

    • Final selection and hiring decisions will be made promptly thereafter
    • The selected candidate is expected to begin work approximately 6–8 weeks prior to clinic opening in June 2026, allowing sufficient time for collaborative planning and clinic establishment activities
    • Hiring will be finalized in advance of key leadership transition and site preparation activities scheduled for May 2026 to ensure continuity of planning and execution
