    Managing Director

    Sector: Financial Services

    Overview

    • The Managing Director will be responsible for overseeing business operations and providing strategic leadership.
    • The managing director’s responsibilities will include developing and implementing strategic plans and policies, maintaining an open dialogue with stakeholders, and driving organizational success.

    Skills and Capabilities

    • Provide strategic advice to the board and chairperson so that they will have an accurate view of the market and the company’s future
    • Maintain the quality of products, services, customer support and level of service in line with service level agreements and other retention strategies.
    • Provide effective leadership to the management and the employees and establish an effective means of control and coordination for all operations and activities.
    • Oversee the company’s business operations, financial performance, investments and ventures.
    • Keep the Board fully informed on all aspects of the company’s operational and financial affairs, and on all matters of significant relevance to the Company. This includes external items emanating from Government and Regulator on issues such as fiscal and monetary policies, legislation, etc.
    • Lead the internal approvals process including interface with credit, safeguards, integrity, legal and other teams as well as management and the Board.
    • Develop and maintain a sound, effective organizational structure, ensures capable management succession, progressive employee training and developmental programs, whilst reporting regularly to the Board on these matters including officers' performance.
    • Foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, integrity and a positive work climate, enabling the business attract, retain and motivate a diverse group of quality employees.
    • Build and enhance the company’s public profile at events, speaking engagements, etc.
    • Review and account for procurement transactions to ensure adequate supporting documentation, accuracy of amounts, and control over payments
    • Suggest formats for financial reporting to aid financial statement users to better understand the contents of the reports for decision-making and strategic planning purposes
    • Ensure the maintenance of accurate records of financial transactions of the country office (main and field offices) In order to monitor financial status of all project activities
    • Drive profitability and meet performance targets by developing necessary business plans to realizing revenue growth and increasing shareholders value 
    • Lead and motivate subordinates to advance employee engagement and develop a high performing managerial team.
    • Oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission.
    • Review financial and non-financial reports to devise solutions or improvements.
    • Build trust relations with key partners and stakeholders and act as a point of contact for key stakeholders of clients (current and potential) and regulators.
    • Maintain a deep knowledge of the capital markets and industry and how changing regulation and macro-economic changes affect the business of the Company.
    • Work with board members and other executives to establish the vision for expanding the existing portfolio of services to include employee share scheme management and innovative data/records management services.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
    • M.Sc / MA in Business Administration will be an advantage 
    • Relevant professional qualifications required (ICAN, ACCA, CFA, etc.)
    • Minimum of 15 - 18 years cognate experience, 7 of which must have been in executive management/leadership
    • Proven experience as Managing Director or in other managerial position
    • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles
    • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices
    • Knowledge/experience of financial and capital markets
    • Demonstrated experience and proven track record of leading an organisation to successfully deliver new and innovative services to clients
    • Able to strategically manage all aspects of the business functions
    • Able to build commitment to the company’s strategic direction by inviting others into the strategic process, forging relationships inside and outside the organization
    • Knowledge/experience of digital business/economy
    • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
    • Sound knowledge of finance related regulations and risk management practices
