Description

• Our client is seeking an experienced Manager, Data Science & AIto lead hands-on data science and AI initiatives across its programmes.
• The role will focus on data engineering, predictive analytics, AI-enabled solutions, dashboards, data quality, and actionable insightsto support programme and business decisions.
• The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with analytical thinking, team leadership, and the ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute todata science and AI projects, including predictive analytics, AI-enabled health tools, and digital health dashboards.
• Design and overseedata pipelines, data models, integrations, and multi-source data structures.
• Conduct statistical and machine learning analyses, includingregression, classification, clustering, and forecasting.
• Develop and review decision-focused dashboards usingPower BI or Tableau.
• Establish data quality, validation, governance, and documentation standards across partner datasets.
• Manage and mentordata scientists and data engineers, reviewing technical outputs for quality and rigour.
• Work with programme teams to identify performance drivers, generate insights, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Provide technical input intoproposals, concept notes, partnerships, and AI/data-driven solutions.
• Collaborate with technology partners on data architecture, model development, and system integration.
• Present technical findings clearly tomanagement, clients, funders, government stakeholders, and other non-technical audiences.
• Support responsible AI practices, includingdata governance, consent, ethical AI, data security, and validation of AI/LLM-assisted outputs.
• Ensure compliance with applicable data protection requirements, including theNigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree
• 6–8 years' experience in Data Science, Data Engineering, AI/ML Engineering, or Applied Analytics, with experience managing or mentoring technical teams.
• Advanced SQL, including complex joins, aggregations, window functions, and multi-source data analysis.
• Strong Python skills, particularly pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib/Plotly, scikit-learn, and statsmodels.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning and statistical analysis, including supervised/unsupervised learning and time-series forecasting.
• Proficiency in Power BI or Tableau, including DAX/calculated fields, plus strong Excel skills including Power Query and Power Pivot.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure or AWScloud data platforms.
• Strong analytical and statistical reasoning, with the ability to independently interpret data, test hypotheses, and defend conclusions.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical findings to non-technical and senior stakeholders.
• Postgraduate qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field is an advantage.

Desirable Experience:

• Experience with AI-enabled health tools, digital health, health systems data, RHIS/HMIS, or development programmes.
• Knowledge of responsible AI, data governance, consent frameworks, or data protection.
• Experience with telecom/mobile network data ecosystems.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM tools for data and reporting workflows, with strong validation practices.
• Experience with Git/version control.
• Experience working in Nigeria or other emerging markets.
