Job Summary

• The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the transportation, and distribution operations of the company. This role ensures the efficient and cost-effective transportation, optimizing the logistics process to meet customer demands while maintaining high levels of service, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics Planning and Strategy

• Develop and implement logistics strategies to improve the efficiency of the supply chain.
• Coordinate transportation and warehousing activities to align with company goals.
• Analyze logistics data and performance metrics to recommend improvements in cost efficiency, speed, and service quality.

Transportation Management

• Oversee the transportation of goods, including selecting carriers, negotiating contracts, and managing relationships with transportation providers.
• Ensure timely delivery of goods and manage delays or disruptions in the logistics process.
• Monitor fleet performance, maintenance schedules, and fuel efficiency.

Warehousing and Inventory Control

• Manage warehouse operations, including storage, inventory management, and distribution of goods.
• Ensure accurate inventory tracking, order fulfillment, and optimization of warehouse space.
• Work closely with inventory management teams to ensure accurate stock levels and reduce the risk of stockouts or overstocking.

Team Leadership and Development

• Supervise and lead the logistics team, including warehouse personnel, drivers, and support staff.
• Provide training and development opportunities to ensure a high-performing team.
• Foster a collaborative work environment and promote safety and compliance within the team.

Cost Control and Budget Management

• Manage the logistics budget and work to minimize transportation and warehouse costs without sacrificing quality or service.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities in logistics operations, including optimizing transportation routes, negotiating better rates, and improving warehouse efficiency.

Compliance and Safety

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to transportation and logistics operations.
• Oversee safety standards in warehouse operations, including the safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices.

Customer Service and Relationship Management

• Liaise with customers and internal stakeholders to understand their logistics needs and provide timely solutions.
• Address any customer complaints or service issues related to the delivery or quality of goods.
• Maintain strong relationships with external logistics partners and vendors.

Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare and present regular reports on logistics performance, including cost analysis, efficiency metrics, and delivery timelines.
• Use data-driven insights to propose improvements to logistics processes and strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field .
• Proven experience (2+ years) in logistics management or a related field, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in managing cross-functional teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience with vendor and carrier contract management.
• Knowledge of local, national, and international transportation regulations and best practices.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
