    Land Surveyor

    Job Summary

    The Surveyor is responsible for conducting accurate and detailed land and construction surveys to support various engineering, architecture, and construction projects. This role involves collecting measurement data, analyzing and interpreting geographic information, and preparing technical reports and survey documents.

    Position Description

    Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

    Survey Planning and Execution:

    • Conduct various types of surveys such as boundary, construction, and cadastral surveys, utilizing modern surveying instruments like GPS equipment, and laser scanners.
    • Perform on-site data collection, including measuring distances, angles, elevations, and positions, and conducting subsurface utility surveys.
    • Establish survey control points, benchmarks, and reference lines to ensure accurate measurements for construction, development, or land planning purposes.
    • Accurately measure land dimensions, boundary lines, and other physical features, ensuring high accuracy and quality of data collected

    Data Analysis and Report Preparation

    • Process raw data collected during field surveys using specialized software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, Leica, etc.) to create maps, charts, and detailed survey plans.
    • Perform mathematical calculations, including adjustments for errors and misclosures, to ensure the highest level of accuracy in survey results.
    • Prepare and submit survey reports, including comprehensive documentation of findings, recommendations, and survey results, in a clear and concise manner.
    • Review and verify survey data for consistency, accuracy, and compliance with local regulations, project requirements, and industry standards.

    Collaboration and Coordination:

    • Liaise with architects, engineers, planners, contractors, and other professionals to provide accurate survey data for the development of site plans, designs, and construction blueprints.
    • Work directly with clients to understand project specifications, provide progress updates, and address concerns related to survey data and results.
    • Provide ongoing support throughout the project lifecycle, from initial survey to final measurements and as-built documentation.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during the surveying process, such as discrepancies in measurements or unforeseen site conditions.

    Equipment and Technology Management:

    • Regularly inspect, maintain, and calibrate survey instruments to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
    • Stay updated with advancements in survey technology and techniques and incorporate them into workflows when necessary.

    HSE Compliance:

    • Adhere to safety rules and procedures in maintenance activities.
    • Ensure all surveys comply with local, state, and national surveying regulations, zoning laws, environmental guidelines, and construction codes.
    • Report and take appropriate actions if possible in event of unsafe act or condition, near miss incident or accident in workplace

    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
    • Professional certifications will be an added advantage.

    Experience:

    • 3 to 5 years’ experience in land surveying, construction surveying, or a related field.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

    • In-depth knowledge of surveying work
    • Strong working knowledge of surveying software such as AutoCAD and other relevant tools
    • Technical skills
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Effective communication skills
    • Attention to details

    Personal Attributes:

    • Proactive; adaptable; can take initiative to get things done very well with good turnaround time
