    Knowledge Management Lead

    Job Summary

    • The Knowledge Management Lead will play a pivotal role in leading the design and implementation of Nigeria Health Watch’s knowledge management system. S/he will develop and maintain a knowledge management system that meets the organisation's needs.
    • The ideal candidate must be able to design this system and tailor best practices and previous professional experience/skills to suit the organisation’s unique offerings and knowledge products.
    • S/he must drive knowledge management processes by developing tools and approaches, managing and applying learnings to the continuous improvement of the organisation’s activities, building and maintaining a repository of knowledge and shaping how it is used within the organisation.
    • S/he will document and institutionalise processes for more effective work and identify/leverage opportunities to disseminate knowledge products to strategically communicate the work that the organisation does externally. In collaboration with project leads, s/he will drive the publication of the organisation’s knowledge products in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
    • The candidate must have good time management skills and be able to work with limited supervision to meet deadlines.

    Scope of Services

    • Design and implement a Nigeria Health Watch knowledge management system.
    • Develop tools and processes for effectively documenting and communicating Nigeria Health Watch's work.
    • Document process flows and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of Nigeria Health Watch key activities, such as events, and regularly review and update them, drive their use by team members and ensure adoption for continuous improvement of work flow efficiency.
    • Build the capacity of staff members to use relevant tools and sustain the knowledge management drive within their sphere of work.
    • Support project teams in the proper documentation and storage/archiving of project outputs and knowledge products. Adapt project outputs and knowledge products for external publication in reputable peer-reviewed journals, strengthening the organisation’s external communications and visibility. Lead the writing and research process in Nigeria Health Watch’s areas of work or focus using data collected on the job.
    • Identify relevant conferences, convenings or other opportunities for team members to write, submit and present abstracts on their areas of work (drive this process from end to end).
    • Stay informed about technological advances and industry best practices in knowledge management.
    • Work closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation Lead to ensure the quality of knowledge products and outputs.
    • Supervise rigorous data collection and maintain data quality through verifications and validations.
    • Support procurement and use of suitable IT resources for effective knowledge management.
    • Conduct regular system audits and identify areas for knowledge management process improvement.
    • Develop and share regular performance reports for knowledge management initiatives.
    • Identify and act on opportunities to update knowledge management systems.

    Essential Competencies & Skills

    • Bachelor's Degree in Information Science, Communication, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in knowledge management.
    • Proven ability to develop and implement knowledge management strategies, systems, and processes.
    • Quantitative and qualitative research proficiency.
    • Demonstrable experience in writing and publishing articles in reputable academic journals.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in relevant knowledge management tools and software.
    • Passion for health advocacy and commitment to using information to empower positive change.
