We are seeking a Junior Social Media Manager who will take ownership of managing Business Insider Africa’s social media presence across all platforms.
This is a hands-on role where you will drive growth, boost engagement, and ensure our brand leads conversations on business and innovation in Africa.
You’ll work closely with the editorial, video, and design teams to deliver content that resonates and scales.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and grow Business Insider Africa’s social media presence across Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, and other relevant platforms.
Plan, create, and schedule engaging and relevant content tailored to our audience, ensuring timely and consistent posting.
Track and respond to audience interactions, foster conversations, and build positive community engagement.
Monitor trends and insights using tools like IO Analytics, CrowdTangle, Meta Business Suite, and others to optimize content strategy.
Set and achieve clear KPIs for reach, engagement, follower growth, and conversions, reporting progress regularly.
Analyze performance metrics and prepare weekly/monthly reports with actionable recommendations.
Collaborate with internal teams — editorial, video, and design — to align strategies and maximize content impact.
Stay ahead of platform changes and competitor activity while introducing new content ideas and engagement tactics.
Propose and execute innovative strategies to improve visibility, engagement, and audience growth, reporting directly to the Head and Editor of Business Insider Africa.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 - 3 years’ experience managing social media platforms, preferably in digital media, publishing, or a fast-paced content-driven environment.
Proven track record of growing audiences and driving engagement.
Strong copywriting, storytelling, and content creation skills.
Proficiency with analytics tools like CrowdTangle, IO Analytics, Meta Business Suite, or similar.
Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate metrics into actionable insights.
Up-to-date knowledge of social media algorithms, trends, and audience behaviors.
Proactive, creative, and able to take full ownership of day-to-day execution while collaborating with multiple teams.
