    Janitor

    Job Description

    • The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and general upkeep of all company facilities, including offices, restrooms, public areas, and external surroundings.
    • The role ensures that all assigned areas are clean, organized, and safe for employees, customers, and visitors.
    • The ideal candidate must be hardworking, reliable, and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    Responsibilities
    Cleaning and Maintenance:

    • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors in all designated areas.
    • Clean and disinfect restrooms, toilets, and wash areas regularly.
    • Empty trash bins, dispose of waste properly, and replace liners.
    • Dust furniture, windows, shelves, and office equipment.
    • Clean glass surfaces, doors, and windows both inside and outside.
    • Maintain cleanliness in corridors, stairways, entrances, and outdoor areas.

    Facility Support:

    • Ensure that cleaning supplies and materials are adequately stocked and stored properly.
    • Report any maintenance issues such as leaks, damaged furniture, or faulty equipment to the Facility Manager.
    • Support the setup and cleaning of meeting rooms, events, and staff gatherings.
    • Maintain cleaning tools and equipment in good condition and report any defects.
    • Ensure cleaning activities are carried out efficiently and without disruption to daily operations.

    Health, Safety, and Hygiene:

    • Follow company policies and safety procedures during cleaning and waste disposal.
    • Use cleaning chemicals and materials safely and according to manufacturer instructions.
    • Adhere to health and safety regulations to prevent hazards or accidents.
    • Ensure proper ventilation during cleaning and use of chemicals.
    • Promote a hygienic and sanitary environment across all facilities.

    Operational Efficiency:

    • Perform routine inspections to maintain high cleanliness standards.
    • Ensure restrooms are restocked with tissues, soap, and other consumables at all times.
    • Respond promptly to cleaning requests or emergencies, such as spills or accidents.
    • Participate in periodic deep-cleaning activities as scheduled.
    • Maintain a cleaning log and checklist for accountability.

    Teamwork and Coordination:

    • Work closely with other janitors and facility staff to ensure efficient service coverage.
    • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding task completion and challenges.
    • Assist in moving office furniture, deliveries, or light maintenance tasks when needed.
    • Support the Facility and Admin teams in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming work environment.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of SSCE or equivalent qualification.
    • Prior experience as a Janitor, Cleaner, or Office Assistant preferred.
    • Knowledge of cleaning materials, tools, and procedures.
    • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
    • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or shifts when required.

    Competencies/Skills:

    • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and products.
    • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness.
    • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently.
    • Time management and organizational skills.
    • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks.
    • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Understanding of basic safety and hygiene practices.
    • Reliability and consistency in performance.
