Role Description

• The Intensive Care Nurse will provide comprehensive, continuous care to critically ill patients within the hospital’s intensive care units. This full-time, on-site role is based in Ikeja and involves monitoring vital signs, managing advanced life-support equipment, administering medications, and implementing treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and other clinicians.
• The nurse will assess patient status, respond promptly to changes in condition, and document care and clinical observations accurately. Responsibilities include supporting patients and families with clear communication, participating in multidisciplinary rounds, adhering to infection prevention and safety protocols, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives within the unit.
• The role also involves mentoring less experienced staff and maintaining current knowledge of best practices in critical care.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational Nursing skills, including patient assessment, care planning, and clinical documentation.
• Proficiency in Critical Care Nursing, with experience managing ventilated patients, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-surgical intensive care.
• Knowledge of Emergency Nursing practices, including rapid response to acute deterioration and stabilizing high-risk patients.
• Understanding of Medicine and Critical Care Medicine principles to interpret clinical data and support multidisciplinary treatment decisions.
• Valid professional nursing license and completion of accredited nursing training; additional critical care certification is an advantage.
• Previous experience in an ICU or high-dependency unit, preferably within a surgical or oncology-focused hospital.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, manage high-pressure situations, and maintain empathy and professionalism with patients and families.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills, with commitment to continual learning and adherence to ethical standards.
