Instructor, Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing at American University of Nigeria (AUN)

The Department of Nursing is new and will start operations in August 2023. We are therefore recruiting pioneer faculty who are to superintend its establishment, nurturing and growth into a center of excellence.

The primary responsibilities of every faculty member are teaching, research and service to the University and community.  Due to the practice nature of nursing, teaching and other academic activities in the Department are complex and requires content and clinical mastery. Accordingly, our expectations of faculty members in the Department are broadly outline as:

• Developing new courses as par the requirements of accreditation and curriculum standards.
• Preparing syllabus, course resources and examinations that are contemporary with the potential of improving student learning.
• Effective teaching in the classroom, clinical settings, and/or online environment.
• Identifying and managing quality clinical learning experiences and supervisions under different situations.
• Effective student performance evaluation.
• Advise and mentor students for academic success.
• Collaborate with and mentor faculty peers.
• Maintain current clinical knowledge and relevant certifications

One major responsibility of all faculty members is to participate in providing service activities to the University, the school, and to the profession. Some of the activities include serving in department, school and university committees, accreditation or self-study writing, advising student organizations, and clinical practice.

Qualifications required:

• A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing and current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council is required for the position of Instructor.
• A PhD in Nursing is required for Assistant Professor and above with strong publication record in indexed journals.
