The Opportunity
For the next 12 months, GPON with funding support from ECW-SCI, will be implementing an Education in Emergencies project in Zamfara and Kastina states, focusing on improving education in emergencies and protection outcomes for IDPs that involves timely and responsive protection monitoring, capacity building for government, education mainstreaming and stakeholders, awareness-raising on SGBV, case management, and child protection.
The intervention aims to guarantee that all individuals-men, women, boys, and girls, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and persons with disabilities-receive life-saving integrated responses, ensuring their safety within their communities and timely support in case of harm. GPON will deliver comprehensive services encompassing education in emergencies, child protection, gender-based violence (GBV), and protection coordination, advocacy, and information for the affected populations under First Emergency Response to the Displaced Population in Zamfara, Sokoto, and Katsina States, Northwest Nigeria funded by Education Cannot Wait and jointly implemented under consortium led by SCI. This role exists to support improvements in the quality of programme and project reporting, tracking of project performance, and ensuring that the required data is being collected and entered in reporting systems.
DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE
The Information Management and Programme Reporting Officer is a key position in the Programs Department, reporting to the MERL Lead. S/he is not a budget holder and has no direct supervision of any of staff. The position has high contact and coordination with project managers/coordinators and M&E coordinators/officers at field level and medium level of contacts with programme leads, PQM, BD team, sponsorship team, Gender specialist, and low contact with communities and relevant institutions.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Programme information Management
- Programme library creation and maintenance.
- Management of programme planning and monitoring tools; to ensure that all project planning and progress is entered in local and regional/ global hub systems.
- Documentation and reporting of programme ana profedous omes on re avioasis.
- Packaging of programme learning from case studies, researches, reviews evaluations.
- Participate in annual MERL activities, planning and tracking milestones for timely execution.
- Collaborate with project managers to document Most Significant Change Stories (MSC) and case studies.
- Participate in documentation of learning, evaluation and researches.
- Maintain and follow up regular update of Plan International Sudan SharePoint (Sudan Team Site) and prepare monthly status reports.
Programme Reporting
- Support project teams on entrenching internal project reporting as per PQIP procedures.
- Support in completion of internal projects reporting.
- Review and consolidate programme reporting, and share summary snapshot with management teams.
- Track Detailed Implementation Plans (DIPs) development, review and approval and follow up with field offices.
- Monitor updating of progress logs and data upload for each project in PMERL system.
- Monitor project completion reporting and ensure that they are developed in time and of good quality.
- Review and format donor narrative, baseline and evaluation reports.
- Review, consolidate and document Child Friendly Feedback Mechanism Monthly & Quarterly Report.
Capacity building
- Build capacities of staff and partners in the following:
- Reporting and writing skills.
- Capturing of MSC stories
Child Protection and Gender Equality and Inclusion
- Ensure that GPON policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International\'s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures
- Demonstrate gender transformative programming and activities in reports
- Identify key risks within your area of operation and put in appropriate control measures to manage them
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Internal
- Program Quality and MERL Teams: high level of contact and coordination for completion of related tasks.
- Business Development Team: frequent contact to ensure donors reports are reviewed and endorsed for submission on timely basis.
- Project Teams: collaborating on compilation of case stories
- Communications & Advocacy Team: coordinate on content development to publicise ongoing and past work.
External
- Information management and program reporting colleagues, and specialists from peer organizations (Government institutions, NNGO, INGOs, UN Agencies, Embassies and Donors as well as corporate sectors) for collect and share information, benchmarking and mutual learning.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Technical Expertise
- A bachelor\'s degree in management, development studies, and or related degree;
- Demonstrated relevant knowledge in successfully editing reports, newsletters, success stories, and various other publications as required
- Excellent understanding of GPON Programmatic Outcome Areas, Areas of Global Distinction, and Gender Transformative Programming
- Excellent understanding of the various information and documentation standards and practices with emphasis on child rights, girls equality, gender transformation and/or gender Issues
Skills
- Fluency in spoken and written Hausa and English, and general communication skills
- Computer literacy, with high proficiency in the use of standard office software applications (e.g. PowerBi, QGIS, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
- Stakeholder management, negotiation skills, and working effectively with others
- Proven ability to work creatively, innovatively and effectively with limited direct supervision Strong organisational skills, time management and attention to details
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks, works well under pressure, and has problem-solving capacities strong renardid sives
Salary and conditions: NGN 600,000 – NGN800,000. The income will be subject to statutory deductions as per applicable Nigeria laws. The employee is responsible for the tax returns.
