    Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Officer

    Location: Omu-Aran, Kwara
    Department: Health Services
    Programme: Medical Centre

    Job Description
    Specializations Required:

    • Promote occupational health and safety within the University and develop safer and healthier ways of working;
    • Inspect and test machinery and equipment to ensure they meet with extant safety regulations and procedures;
    • Ensure the provision and use of personal protective equipment, such as dust masks, safety glasses, footwear and safety helmets at the required platforms;
    • Drive Institution’s compliance with the extant health and safety rules;
    • Participates in investigating work place accidents, anti-safety incidents, unsafe working conditions, establish causes and propose remedies;
    • Trains members of management, supervisors and workers on health and safety extant practices and legislation;
    • Assists with the rehabilitation of workers after accidents or injuries and make sure they experience a satisfactory return to work;
    • Any other assignment as may be given from time to time.

    Requirements

    • First Degree or its equivalent in Health Safety and Environmental Management or any related discipline.
    • Membership of relevant Safety Institute, e.g. the Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals, etc.
    • First Aid & Fire Marshall Certification/Training.
    • Proficient in all Microsoft Applications.
    • In depth knowledge of Health, Safety and/or Environmental Legislations and procedures.
    • Ability to engage the ISO accredited Quality & Environmental Management Systems.
    • Must possess excellent Organizational & Time Management skills.
    • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Must be proactive, energetic, and able to work extra-long hours.
    • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in this position.
    • Must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme.
    • Age bracket shall be between 30 & 35 years.
