Building the business, innovating, driving operational efficiency, leading the team and driving dynamic growth in the Nigerian market;
Managing your existing strategic relationships within the payments and banking sector, at the highest level including the regulator;
Partnering with multiple players in the industry (e.g. vendors, regulators, Accountants, Lawyers, etc.);
Being aware of the latest regulatory environment in which a Payment Gateway operates and must be able to foresee opportunities and threats and devise strategies in conjunction with the team to deal with them;
Contributing to the building of a positive and productive culture in the Lagos Office;
Continually advising the Group leaders about current trends in the Nigerian market and provide input into any new or local product requirements;
Acquiring, developing, and maintaining relationships with new clients;
Generating leads and new business opportunities;
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high standards of customer service;
Facing the challenges of our clients and assess the activities of our competitors to proactively satisfy and retain our clients;
Collaborating with the internal reconciliation, settlement, operations, product, research and development, compliance and other teams as necessary to fully understand payment channels, proactively identify and resolve problems in good time, provide timely feedback and ensure prompt resolution of issues and escalate where necessary.
Experience and mindset:
Minimum of 10+ years in the Payments (gateways, online payments, recognised payment companies) or Banking (e-commerce / fintech / online divisions from one of Nigeria’s big banks);
5+ years as a leader of a function, team or area;
An Expert in the Nigerian payments market and local payment methods ;
A proven track-record of leading companies and/or teams and meeting operational and strategic targets;
A proven record of driving the growth of a company / division / sector or area;
Excellent communication, analytical, presentation and troubleshooting skills;
Strong, demonstrable business development & customer acquisition experience;
Attention to detail and the ability to communicate across all levels of management from C-Suite downwards;
Deep insight and understanding of payment partners/products/channels including but not limited to NIBSS, Banking, Switching Companies, Settlement Companies, Payment Service Providers, Etc.
