Head of Medical Laboratory at Havana Specialist Hospital

​​​​​​​Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the medical laboratory to ensure efficient and accurate diagnostic services.
• Supervise, coordinate, and provide leadership to laboratory scientists, technicians, and support staff.
• Ensure all laboratory procedures comply with regulatory standards and institutional policies.
• Maintain and enforce quality assurance and quality control standards within the laboratory.
• Review and validate laboratory test results before release where required.
• Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and functionality of laboratory equipment.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate procurement of laboratory reagents and consumables.
• Conduct training, mentoring, and performance evaluations for laboratory staff.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and infection prevention protocols within the laboratory.
• Prepare and submit periodic reports on laboratory activities and performance to management.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure laboratory accreditation requirements are met.
• Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, service delivery, and turnaround time.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum of 5– 8 years’ experience in a medical laboratory, with leadership or supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or any related field.
• Must be licensed with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
• Strong knowledge of laboratory quality management systems and regulatory standards.
• Experience managing laboratory operations in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality diagnostic services.
• Proficiency in laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office.
