    Head of Marketing

    The Role

    • We’re looking for our first true Head of Marketing — a strategic and hands-on leader who can build, scale, and inspire. You’ll transform our currently execution-driven marketing function into a data-led, outcome-obsessed growth engine, driving both retail and B2B expansion.
    • This is not a “maintain and manage” role. It’s a “build, lead, and scale” role — with ownership of Busha’s marketing strategy, budget, and performance across markets.

    What You’ll Own

    Strategy & Leadership

    • Translate the CMO’s strategic vision into actionable, data-backed marketing plans across B2C and B2B segments.
    • Own the marketing execution roadmap, ensuring alignment with company andproduct goals.
    • Lead annual planning, OKRs, and budget allocations across brand, performance, and product marketing.
    • Balance strategic prioritisation across B2C vs B2B, brand vs performance, and market expansion.

    Growth & Performance

    • Build a multi-channel acquisition engine leveraging newly unlocked paid platforms (Meta, TikTok, Google).
    • Drive strong ROI and optimise CAC/LTV economics.
    • Establish a data-driven culture with marketing dashboards and performance accountability.
    • Partner with Product, Growth Engineering, Data team to drive conversion, retention, and reactivation campaigns.

    Brand & Communications

    • Strengthen Busha’s brand as the most trusted, premium digital money platform in Africa.
    • Lead brand campaigns, partnerships, influencer activations, and PR that drive awareness and affinity.
    • Ensure local relevance and consistent brand voice across markets and languages.

    Product & Market Launches

    • Build repeatable go-to-market playbooks for new product verticals (Savings, Lending, Cards) and regional expansions.
    • Act as the “conductor” orchestrating Product, Design, Compliance, and Sales to execute cross-functional launches.
    • Localise strategy and messaging for new regions (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Francophone Africa).

    Team Building & Culture

    • Lead, mentor, and scale the marketing team.
    • Immediately hire key roles not filled.
    • Build a high-performance, low-ego culture rooted in creativity, accountability, and measurable impact.

    What Success Looks Like

    First 30 Days – Foundation & Immersion

    • Conduct a deep-dive audit of people, processes, data, and martech stack.
    • Align with founders on 12-month growth priorities and marketing success metrics.
    • Establish team rhythms (leadership syncs, all-hands, campaign planning).

    First 90 Days – Team & Systems

    • Hire and onboard outstanding senior marketing leads.
    • Implement quarterly OKR and budget cadence.
    • Launch the first integrated product GTM campaign (“Savings”) to test playbook.
    • Define Busha’s paid marketing framework (channel mix, attribution, compliance).

    First 6 Months – Foundation Complete, Early Signals

    • Marketing engine is fully functional: team structure, tools, and cadence in place.
    • Paid channels operational and optimised for learning, not just scale.
    • Early leading indicators improving (CPL, CTR, reactivation rates, brand recall).
    • Cross-functional GTM process is predictable and repeatable.

    6–12 Months – Scalable Impact Phase

    • Foundational investments begin to convert into measurable business impact.
    • Retail users scale from ~1M to 2.5M+ with strong CAC discipline.
    • Busha Business grows from <100 to 1,000+ customers.
    • Busha achieves No. 1 brand consideration in Nigeria’s digital asset space.
    • Marketing function transitions from “build mode” to “scale mode.”

    Who You Are

    Must-Haves

    • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, including 4–6 years in senior leadership (Head/Director/VP level).
    • Proven success scaling consumer or B2B fintechs in high-growth or emerging markets.
    • Deep expertise in both brand and performance marketing, including media buying, funnel optimisation, and retention.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams of 10–20+ across multiple functions.
    • Data-fluent operator who balances creative intuition with analytical decision-making.
    • Experienced navigating regulated markets (fintech, banking, or crypto).

    Nice-to-Haves

    • Experience in crypto, blockchain, or digital asset marketing.
    • Launched and scaled products in multiple African countries.
    • Experience building B2B and B2C engines simultaneously.
    • Experience in hyper-growth (Series A–C) startup environments.
