We are searching for an energetic polymath with a track record across growth, marketing, product and finance. The role is a combination of multiple roles to build a profitable business that attracts prospects (marketing); delivers value to customers (product) and ensure more money flows in than out (finance).
The Role
Why it's important: This role is critically important for leading the implementation of specialised growth strategies for our consumer business.
What it covers: As the Head of Consumer Growth, your mission is to to build, lead and inspire a team of marketers & sales people to accelerate consumer revenue growth. You will be responsible for designing strategy, monitoring execution and enforcing best practices in the growth team.
Who you will work with: This role sits in the Growth Team. You will be reporting to the CEO in addition to working with the CTO, Head of Product
We are looking for someone with:
- At least 5 years of work experience in growth, marketing or other related role, with at least 3 of those years in driving product-led growth, ideally in a tech startup
- A positive, can-do attitude. Successful candidates are gritty and resilient
- Experience with managing relationships with multiple external stakeholders, including clients, regulators, suppliers, etc.
- A proven track record of excelling in research tasks, evidenced by previous experience in roles that require significant research activity
- Experience building, leading, and developing high-performance marketing teams with a highly strategic yet hands-on, entrepreneurial builder mentality. You’ll be a player/coach.
- A strong passion for entrepreneurship, startups, innovation, and marketing.
- A strategic, innovative, and creative personality with strong business acumen and executive presence. You enjoy advising senior management and think holistically about how the growth function fits into the business’ objectives.
- Strong influencing skills with the ability to build conviction in your work.
- Clear and direct communication with strong attention to detail and excellence.
- Flexibility and a high level of comfort surrounding change and ambiguity involved in fast-paced, early-stage startups.
Responsibilities
Team building

- Hire and build a team of marketers & growth managers responsible for 10x revenue growth
- Create and execute retention strategy to meet the needs of the growth team
- Create and execute training programme for growth team members to achieve to 10x revenue performance, even in the absence of a lead
Strategy and planning

- Define the goals, core strategies and most efficient tactics to drive cost-effective acquisition and retention for all subscriptions
- Set quarterly growth OKRs and annual growth strategy in collaboration with the Head of Product, CTO and CEO
- Scope and conduct analyses to find actionable insight for paid marketing campaigns, SEO, content and beyond to drive high ROI growth
Customer and Company Growth

- Own the infrastructure and processes needed for rapid growth; evaluate tools, run experiments, pipeline funnel, OKR dashboards.
- Use customer data to identify high-growth customer segments. Drive continual improvements in lead conversion rates, close rates, and funnel velocity.
- Help Stears reach its growth goals towards getting customers to use Stears products & services, with a focus on Africa-wide expansion.
