    Head of Card Payment Switching / Payment Infrastructure Manager

    Job Objective

    • To manage and ensure the smooth, secure, and uninterrupted operation of card payment switching and processing systems by overseeing system performance, card issuing and acquiring activities, configurations, testing, upgrades, and collaboration with internal teams, banks, merchants, and payment schemes.

    Key Responsibilities

    Payment Switching & System Operations

    • Oversee daily operations of card payment switching systems.
    • Monitor system performance and transactions to ensure high availability.
    • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve transaction and system issues within agreed SLAs.
    • Perform routine system health checks to prevent downtime.

    Card Issuing & Acquiring Management

    • Support card issuing and acquiring activities with banks, merchants, and payment schemes.
    • Assist with onboarding new issuers and merchants.
    • Ensure compliance with card scheme rules and internal standards.

    System Configuration & Setup

    • Manage configurations for card and acquiring programs.
    • Maintain system parameters such as BINs, fees, limits, routing, merchants, and terminals.
    • Support product and transaction flow changes.

    Testing & Quality Assurance

    • Coordinate and conduct host-to-host testing with partners and schemes.
    • Support UAT and QA activities and ensure defects are resolved.
    • Validate system performance before and after changes.

    Transaction Monitoring & Analysis

    • Monitor live transactions to detect failures or performance issues.
    • Analyze transaction data and logs to identify root causes.
    • Support settlement, reconciliation, and transaction investigations when required.

    System Upgrades & Change Management

    • Support system upgrades, deployments, and production releases.
    • Participate in release planning and post-deployment validation.
    • Ensure proper documentation of system changes and configurations.

    Collaboration & Documentation

    • Work closely with IT, Operations, QA, and Project teams.
    • Liaise with external vendors, banks, merchants, and payment schemes.
    • Maintain clear operational and technical documentation.

    Job Requirements

    Education

    • First degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in card payment processing or transaction switching.
    • At least 3 years in the current role.
    • Experience working with clients and business partners.
    • Knowledge of card schemes (Visa, Mastercard) and payment flows.
    • Working knowledge of SQL and payment processing tools.
    • Experience with system upgrades, testing, and production support.
    • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

    Technical & Professional Skills

    • Strong understanding of card payment switching, issuing, and acquiring systems.
