Job Description:

You are responsible for the following:

Coordinating the activities of the house parents and students.

• This includes monitoring and supervising the house parents to ensure that they are carrying out their duties as scheduled.
• Setting up, maintaining and updating boarding house records
• Periodic and regular updating of lists of house parents and students in their charge
• Daily Report Monitoring Sheet/Book (Daily reports are to be completed by house parents and signed off by Head of Boarding). This will be checked from time to time by the Principal.
• Head of Boarding to have own Monitoring Book in which all incidents and issues worth noting are recorded. This will be checked by the Principal from time to time.
• Hygiene in the hostels – Working with the house parents and appropriate departments, ensure that all areas of the hostels and environs are clean and meet the highest possible hygienic standards.
• Maintenance and care of all equipment and fittings inside and around the hostels. Close liaison with the school’s maintenance department.

After-school activities

• To take the lead in organizing the after-school activities timetable along with members of the senior leadership team and to ensure that staff and students participate in the activities. This includes clubs, it is adhered to.
• Organize house parents and students to prepare the school hall and other venues for school events such as Sunday services, assemblies, special events in the school.
• To ensure that house parents and students participate in after-school and weekend activities including Sunday school and other services.
• The ability to inspire and motivate others positively and to lead by his/her own example is essential.

Discipline in the Boarding House

• Ensure that pupils are adhering to school rules and routines – siesta, lights out, attendance and participation in games and co-curricular activities etc.
