Job Summary

The Head, Electrical unit will oversee electrical power system design and implementation, Installation, supervision of electrical equipment and devices, maintenance of electrical power system infrastructures and informing/advising the management on Power system development

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Managing Personnel and assigned specific Tasks to all Electrical Technicians through their supervisor.
• Carry out any other assigned task related to Power system development in the University
• Managing the Maintenance and Installation of all Electrical Power system Infrastructures
• Carry out training and retraining of all Electrical Personnel

Functional Competencies/ Technical Skills

• Core Electrical Power system background with some substantial years of experience
• Ability to carry out Planned, Scheduled and Corrective maintenance on all power system Infrastructures
• Knowledge of relevant Design and Implementation software
• Maintenance of cordial relationship between the management and Public utility service providers
• Ensure 24-hour Power availability within the University and its adjoining quarters
• Managing the Power system Infrastructures and ensuring at least 95% Uptime
• Coordinate all Electricians and technical personnel to achieve the set targets

Basic requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Minimum)
• Registered with COREN, and NSE or IEEE compulsory
• Safety and project management Certifications
• 10 years of Postgraduate experience minimum
• Master’s degree an added advantage
