Head - Aviation (Business Origination, Bidding & Technical Reinsurance Coordination) at Tolaram Group

Role Summary

• The Head – Aviation will lead Mutual Equity Insurance Broking Limited’s aviation portfolio under the Mutual Equity × K.M. Dastur (KMD) partnership.
• The role focuses on driving business origination, managing aviation tenders, and ensuring seamless technical coordination with KMD’s global teams.
• The ideal candidate will possess strong technical reinsurance knowledge, leadership capability, and deep industry connections within Nigeria’s aviation and insurance markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute business growth strategies for aviation insurance and reinsurance across Nigeria and West Africa.
• Originate, manage, and negotiate aviation insurance mandates for airlines, airports, and regulatory bodies.
• Lead bid and tender processes—ensuring technical accuracy, compliance, and competitive pricing.
• Coordinate technical documentation, quotations, and facultative placements with KMD’s international teams.
• Review and finalize policy wordings, endorsements, and claims documentation.
• Build and maintain senior relationships with NCAA, FAAN, NAMA, and key aviation stakeholders.
• Lead the Aviation & Technical Executive team, ensuring compliance with NAICOM, NCRIB, and Lloyd’s standards.
• Contribute to board-level planning and drive operational governance for the Aviation vertical.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Aeronautical Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field; MBA/ACII/ACIIN preferred.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in aviation insurance/reinsurance, with at least 7 years in a leadership or underwriting role.
• Proven track record managing aviation portfolios, tenders, and client relationships.
• Strong knowledge of Hull, Liability, War, Crew, and Airport risks.
• Experience engaging with international reinsurers, preferably within Lloyd’s markets.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and presentation skills with high professional integrity.
