    General Manager, Ashmed Specialist Hospital Kaduna Nigeria

    Our client, A reputable hospital; ASHMED SPECIALIST HOSPITAL is recruiting to fill the position of a General Manager to coordinate and direct the affairs of all its branches in Nigeria for qualitative healthcare service delivery while adding value to the assets (HR, funds, and equipment). The position holder will be based at the hospital headquarter in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

    About the Position

    The General Manager is a Team Lead for Business Development and Hospital leading Operations staff, he/she is to supervise and coordinate businesses (finance, admin, marketing, publicity, human resource public, customer relations, and strategic planning) in all the branches of the Hospital within and outside Kaduna State.

    Job content

    • Serve as the intermediary between the Management Team and the Governing Board of the hospital. 
    • Attends and leads strategic meetings held physically or virtually with the Management team and with the governing board as a member. Approving officer for administrative and financial matters
    • Receives, and analyses report from the various business units and gives appropriate directives.         

    Reports to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on daily operations but may also have recourse to seek guidance from other Management Terms of the Company in order to perform other oversight functions to the Hospital.

    TYPICAL WORK HOURS

    • Mondays to Fridays: 8am – 5pm
    • Every Saturdays: 9 am – 3pm
    • Alternate Public Holidays: 9am – 3pm (or as scheduled by the Chairman/CEO)

    Leave Entitlement

    The General Manager would be entitled to a Paid Leave of 21 calendar days upon the completion of one year of continuous service with the Company.

    Responsibilites: 

    • Coordinate the clinical personnel and clinical activities of the Hospital.
    • Coordinate and supervise Finance Department to generate aggressive income and/or revenue for the Hospital.
    • Monitor Finance Department to prevent linkages in all branches of the Hospital.
    • Coordinate seamless work and business processes at Ashmed Specialist Hospital Limited and all her branches.
    • Work with the hospital management to maintain budgets and supervise expenses.
    • Support with business investment analysis of risks and opportunities.
    • Oversee the procurement and supply chain management of Ashmed Specialist Hospital Limited.
    • Monitor project progress at Ashmed Specialist Hospital limited and handle any issues that arise.
    • Seek business opportunities for Ashmed Specialist Hospital Limited within the context of the services offered by the Hospital. 
    • Supervise all areas of the hospital including Nursing, the admin, and the accounts department. Ensure staff discipline is maintained, and laws and regulations are strictly followed.
    • Create ideas to get more clients and participate marketing activities
    • Employ, deploy, salary paying, training, team build
    • Interact with government functionaries and other stakeholders to ensure a good and harmonious alliance. 
    • Ensure that customers diaries are well kept and reminders made on time.
    • Write reports/develop business plans for the hospital and her businesses.
    • Act as the point of contact and communicate business status to the management, and the Board as may be required at any given time. 
    • Oversee business correspondences and prepare and review project-related emails, letters, proposals, and other documents.
    • Liaise with clients to identify and define their business requirements, scope, and objectives.
    • Represent the hospital in business meetings and client engagement discussions. 
    • Ensure that the hospital has sufficient resources such as personnel, material, and equipment as may be required per time. 
    • Supervise and manage the workflow by monitoring its progression to ensure implementation in line with client needs and requirements.
    • Ensure that clients’ needs are met in the course of daily business in the hospital.
    • ·Coordinate business management activities in the allocation of resources, deployment of equipment, and dissemination of information in the hospital.
    • Coordinate with management in developing business scope, business development plan, deliverables, budget, and milestones.
    • Liaise with clients to identify and define business requirements, scope, and objectives.
    • Provide monthly and quarterly business reports to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
    • Prepare Board Packs with Departmental Heads in readiness for quarterly Board meetings and participates in board meetings to present business reports to the Board of Directors. 
    • Assume any other responsibilities as may be delegated by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer.

    As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.

    Qualification and Experience

    • The candidate for this position should be a university graduate, preferably have education or working experience in developed countries.
    • Minimum of 5 - 8 years similar expereince
    • He/she must have strong leadership and communication skills
    • Basic accounting skills and knowledge of database systems and MS Excel.
    • Good computer skills, can use excel formulas to make salary lists, invoices, forms, and statistics.
    • The GM position candidate must have excellent organizational and management skills and a problem-solving attitude and the ability to train members of staff.
    • Innovative and initiative nature is very important

    • Ability to exercise independent judgement.
    • Demonstration of trustworthiness: integrity, and excellence.
    • Strong interpersonal relationships.
    • Ability to speak the Hausa Language is required
